By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — After a rough and tumble start, the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division finish went right down to the wire Saturday. When two cars got together off turn four, the field slowed for the final caution of the race, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. When it was all set and done, Ed Perry rocketed to his second win of the season in the Sportsman division. At the drop of the green, contact up front collected multiple challengers, including names like Craig Pianka, Mark Healy and others. Once back underway, the race was rather clean and green - with Perry jumping out front and Steve Axon sitting second. They raced that way, with Perry in control, until the caution with just two laps to go. On the restart, Perry opened his gap again out front, proving he wasn’t going to be denied. He bested Adam Petty and Scott Serydynski Jr., who joined him on the podium. Axon would finish fourth, followed by Tyler Almeida. Doug Benoit finished sixth, followed by Colby Lambert, Jim Silvia, Chris Rioux and Andrew Gillis. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will return to racing on Saturday, June 18, for round two of their Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown, set for 35 laps. THRILLER: LALLIER HOLDS OFF LILLIE FOR LATE MODEL TRIUMPH By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Saturday’s Late Model feature went down to the wire — literally the last few inches — before a winner was decided. Former Sportsman champion Paul Lallier and former Late Model winner Jeramee Lillie battled hard for the entire 30 laps, often trading paint and racing closer than most people walk on a narrow street. After a mid-race chaotic tangle that caught multiple cars and forced the red flag, the two battled right down to the finish with Lallier edging out for his second career Late Model win by just .003 seconds. Lillie had to settle for second, but there were no losers in that battle on this night. Ryan Flood finished third, while Charlie Rose and Josh Hedges completed the top-five. Jacob Burns finished sixth, followed by Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Vinnie Arreneago, Chris Gomes and Bill Goodrow. The mid-race tangle collected Burns, who was on top of DeGasparre. Both drivers were able to continue and work their way back into the top-10. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — For the second time in the early season, Brendan Hammann rocketed to victory lane in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars on Friday night. Hammann passed defending champion Luke Lebrun for the lead just past the halfway point and rolled to the win in the 30-lap round one of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. After what could be deemed as a rough and tumble first two weeks of Legends Cars racing, week three was just the opposite. With only a few cautions early, the final half of the race went under the green flag, with Hammann driving away from a close battle between Lebrun and Devin Deshaies. While Lebrun may not have run the first two, with Deshaies taking over his championship ride, the battle between the two of them for second was phenomenal. At the finish, Hammann would celebrate in Victory Lane, with Deshaies finishing second and Lebrun third. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will return to the track on Friday, June 17 for another 25-lap feature. By Sam Tully For the third week straight to start off the season, Darren Krantz Jr. drove his #31 Bandolero Bandit to the top step in victory lane. Krantz, who rolled off the grid in fifth place, made haste towards the front of the field and took the lead by lap four, and remained the leader for the rest of the 15-lap feature. Milania Shilosky was once again Krantz’s closest challenger of the night, working her way up to second by lap three, hot on the heels of Krantz all the while. When the checkered flag waved, Shilosky trailed Krantz by just 0.427 at the line, locking in her third straight second place finish of the season. Ryan Vanasse Jr. brought his Bandolero Bandit home in third place, making the top-three identical to last week’s feature.Collin Vanasse would break the trend, finishing closely behind his cousin Ryan in fourth, with a mere 0.409 seconds separating the two at the line. Nick Uhrig Jr., who sat on pole to start the 15-lapper, rounded out the top five. Sam Macedo finished sixth, followed by Allyha DeSomma, Bryson, Robidoux, Zacarias Kelley, and Luka Dib, who rounded out the top 10. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit division will return to the track on Friday, June 10 for another 15-lap feature. By Sam Tully The Bandolero Outlaws took to the third-mile oval Friday with two-time feature winner Chase Silvia looking to keep his winning streak alive. Silvia gridded up eighth to start the 15-lap feature, pole-sitter Nathan Rioux, Andrew Gomes, and Brent Robidoux battled it out early for the lead. Andrew Gomes emerged from the pack early on to lead 12 of the 15 laps, but it was a late race restart resulting in a Green/White/Checkered that flipped everything on its head. With two to go at the final restart, Chase Silvia put himself right where he needed to be on the inside of the second row to make a move for the lead. Though he crossed the line first as the checkered flag waved, an illegal move by Silvia to pass to the inside of the leader before the start finish line at the restart would cost him two spots and the win, resulting in Brent Robidoux earning his first feature win of the season, and Adam Harrison, who rolled off ninth to start the race, to finish in second. Chase Silvia would settle for third. Joey Lemay flirted with the lead for the duration of the feature, finishing in fourth, followed by Andrew Gomes who finished fifth, and Bradley Strickland sixth. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw division will return to the track on Friday, June 17 for another 15-lap feature. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — In the first two weeks of the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock season, Jeremy Lambert was right there at the front of the field, but didn’t pull off a victory. In week three, he changed that. Lambert rolled to the lead early in the 25-lap race and wasn’t going to be denied, driving away into the night and rolling into Victory Lane. After three weeks, Lambert is proving to be the dominant force in the Pure Stocks. He pulled away to win by over two seconds, rolling to the flag way out front. The battle for second on back was intense, and that’s an understatement. Between Jordan Threlfall, Mike Henriques and others, the drivers beat with each other, trading paint, but somehow made it through without wrecking. Threlfall finished second with Henriques third, while Mike Rotondo and Sam Lincoln finished the top-five. Danny Massa was sixth, followed by Greg Perry, Jared Corderia, Timmy Ouellette and Bill Chouinard. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the track on Friday, June 17, for another 25-lap feature. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — AJ Manuel returned to the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 division and had quite the task in front of him, but was able to pull it off. Manuel started deep in the field in round one of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown, but worked his way to the front after being forced to pit for a flat right-front tire. Manuel charged to the lead, passing Jarrod Freitas for the top spot on lap 23 of the 30-lap feature, and drove away into the sunset to pickup the victory. Crystal Murray, who is inside the same team and had won the first two races of the season, charged her way to the front to finish second after going to the rear at the halfway point. Murray leads the standings after three weeks. Henry Lavallee finished third, working his way to the front late, as the veteran continues to impress in 2022. Freitas scored another top-five finishing fourth, while Mikey LeFort returned and rounded out the top-five. Tyler Duhancik was sixth, followed by Ron Gajdowski, Daniel Hayes, Justin Leduc and Christine Cavallaro. The Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, June 17, for another 25-lap feature. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. -- The Action Track of the East will roar back to life this Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, with two nights of racing in Massachusetts. On Fast Friday, the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s and Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will both take center stage, with round one of their Everett’s Triple Crown, while on NASCAR Saturday, the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will move into their second round of the Everett’s Triple Crown. On top of that, a full card of racing on both nights includes five total divisions on Friday and four more on Saturday. Tickets for both nights, and all Seekonk Speedway 2022 events, are available now by visiting SeekonkSpeedway.com. In the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, the battle of the top of the division has been going through three drivers to open the year: Brendon Hammann, Devin Deshaies and Reese Bogue. The three of them have finished inside the top-three in both races so far, with Hammann and Deshaies visiting Victory Lane as the winner. Will Bogue be able to capture the gold in the extra-distance 30-lap event this Friday? Or will someone like Mason Tessier, Brenden LaBelle, Richie Helger Jr, Ty LeClerc or someone else hold the crown? Crystal Murray has dominated the opening stages of the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 season, capturing two victories behind the wheel of her No. 38 in the first two events. Will she be able to make it three-for-three on Friday? She’s going to have quite the group of challengers trying to stop her. Names like Karlin Levesque, Henry Lavallee and Tyler Duhancik are off to hot starts, along with Jarrod Freitas, who has been impressive in the first few weeks. Rumors are swirling that former division champions Mikey LeFort and AJ Manuel may also rocket to the track on Friday to compete in the first round of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series, set for 30 laps. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks are also off to a hot start -with Greg Perry and Billy Chouinard opening the year with feature wins. Jeremy Lambert has been strong and come up just short, and Friday’s 25-lap feature could be the time for him to hold the flag. Look out for Danny Massa, Mike Rotondo, Timmy Ouellette, Ethan Souza and others to be contenders this Friday night. Both of the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions have seen clean racing in their first two races of the year in the Seekonk Youth Racing Association. Darren Krantz Jr., the defending champion of the Bandolero Bandits, has two wins in two weeks, while Milania Shilosky, Ryan Vanasse Jr., and Collin Vanasse haven’t been far behind in that class. In the Bandolero Outlaws, Chase Silvia has also pocketed two wins, while Andrew Gomes and Bradley Strickland have been close behind. Look out for Brent Robidoux to potentially turn his season around this week in the Outlaws with a strong run. NASCAR Saturday’s Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck 35-lap race, the second of three in the Everett’s Triple Crown, will help set the Final Four field for the Triple Crown finale in August. Entering the night, Barry Shaw Jr. is the only driver locked into the finale of the Triple Crown, coming off a victory in the first round. The Triple Crown standings see Rick Martin, Mike Duarte and Mike Cavallaro in position to join him in the finals, but names like Brittany Campbell, Jake Vanada and Lenny Guy aren’t going to give it up. Amy Arsenault, Tom Scully III and Daryl Church may need a win to get into the final round, but all three are capable. Whichever driver wins on Saturday will join Shaw in the final round, while the other two spots will be filled with the competitors who earn the most combined points in the two Triple Crown events. Four races and four winners so far in the Late Models, with Jacob “Rowdy” Burns becoming the latest to get the job done last Saturday. Seven-time division champion Gerry DeGasparre Jr. leads Vinnie Arrenegado, Burns and Richie Murray in the early championship standings, as the top five cars are separated by just 13 points after four weeks. With eight drivers entering the first round of the playoffs later in the year, Ryan Flood holds a 23-point lead on ninth-place Reese Bogue in that battle right now, and seems to be pulling away. Through four Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman races, the Purple Passion has been the car out front. Craig Pianka has put together a mix of luck and extreme speed to win three of four events, while defending champion Chad Baxter, who had an unbelievable year in 2021, hasn’t won yet. Steve Axon has been close multiple times, and so has former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion Doug Benoit. Look for those drivers to attempt to defeat Ed Perry, who's had arguably some of the top speed of the year, in their 25-lap feature on Saturday night. And in the Pro Stocks, Mike Brightman has two of three wins in his pocket, rocketing to the front early and holding off eight-time champion Dave Darling to accomplish the winning task last week in the 60-lap feature. This week, Brightman may be going to start towards the rear, but look out for the former Late Model champion. Can Dave Darling win his first race of the year? Will Rick Martin accomplish Seekonk career win number 102? Will Tom Scully Jr., Ryan Lineham, Ryan Vanasse or Bobby Pelland get back to Victory Lane? Those names and more will all be searching for the gold in their 40-lap race this weekend. Friday racing begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday competition takes the green flag at 6 p.m. Tickets for all Seekonk Speedway events are now available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Tickets can be purchased in advance for both general admission in the grandstands and pit passes for all races, including major upcoming races. Seekonk Speedway will have the first of two Monster Truck events on June 19, followed by Open Wheel Wednesday, a $10,000 race for the Open Wheel Modifieds, on Wednesday, June 29. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — For the second straight week, Craig Pianka was in the right place, at the right time, with speed to get the job done. In Saturday’s 25-lap Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman feature, Pianka raced to the front of the pack, and when the caution flew just after the white flag, setting up a green-white-checkered finish, Pianka took advantage. Using the outside lane, the veteran drove the No. 4 to victory — passing leader Adam Petty to take the impressive victory. It was Pianka’s third win in four Sportsman races early this season, flexing his muscle in the competitive class. Petty, who dominated much of the race, had to settle for second on this night, while Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia had a flashback from the past, working the third groove to the podium. Colby Lambert and Steve Axon finished the top-five. Scott Serydynski Jr. finished sixth, followed by Donald Perry, Tyler Almeida, Crystal Serydysnki and Cody Tripp. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest updates. Fans can buy tickets today for all of the 2022 events at SeekonkSpeedway.com. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Mike Brightman worked hard. Really hard. Brightman took the lead on lap 20 in the Pro Stocks round one of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series extra-distance event, and even though the rest of the race went green, none of it was easy. Brightman drove away to a 10-car length advantage, but then David Darling closed the gap, and the final 10 laps was worth the price of admission. The two battled hard for the top spot, with Darling trying both lanes to find a way by. A few times it looked like he might have the run he needed, but it didn’t pan out. There was no one denying Brightman on this night. Mighty Mike captured his second win in three races, as the former Late Model champion has found the speed with some help from Jimmy Kuhn, and as he mentioned in Victory Lane, it’s time to get it in the winner’s circle. Darling settled for second. Rick Martin, Colbey Fournier and Tom Scully Jr finished the top-five. Ryan Lineham finished sixth, followed by Tommy Adams, Danny Thibeault, Billy Joeress and Bobby Pelland. The Pro Stocks will return to the track on Saturday, June 10, with a 40-lap feature.
