By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Jacob “Rowdy” Burns wasn’t going to be denied. For the first time in his Seekonk Speedway Late Model campaign, Burns captured the checkered flag on June 3, rocketing past Mark Jenison with a cross-over move and never looking back. Jenison jumped out to the early lead in his No. 22, but Burns quickly worked his way to the front, and challenged for the lead when the field crossed for halfway. It wasn’t long before Burns and Jenison started trading paint, but the show was worth the price of admission. Burns passed for the lead on lap 22 and finished in the winning spot, with Jenison hanging on for second, and Chase Belcher grabbing a podium finish in third. Gerry DeGasparre Jr and Vinny Arrenegado finished the top-five. Through four races, the Late Model division has four different winners. Josh Hedges finished sixth, followed by Ryan Flood, Richie Murray, Nate Tracey and Reese Bogue. The Late Models will return to the track on Saturday, June 10, with a 30-lap feature. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Mike Duarte had been finishing on the podium in the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks, but just couldn’t close the deal in 2022 heading into Saturday night. Finally, he came out on top. The former Sport Truck champion rocketed to the front of the pack in the 25-lap feature, taking the lead on lap eight and driving to the victory over the final laps. While Duarte glided to victory, the race for second to the finish was close. Brittany Campbell ended up in the runner-up spot when it mattered most, capturing yet another podium during her impressive start to the season. Rick Martin followed up his 101st career Seekonk win with a third-place finish, while Amy Arsenault and Barry Shaw Jr. finished the top-five. Daryl Church was sixth, followed by Mike Cavallaro, Tom Scully III, Lenny Guy and Rick Albernaz. Friday’s Bandolero Outlaws feature provided us the division’s first installment of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown and some great racing. When the green flag waved, Bradley Strickland wheeled his Bandolero Outlaw from fifth place and charged to the front on the inside, finding himself as the race leader by lap four. Andrew Gomes looked to keep pace on the outside early on. Strickland worked quickly to stretch a several-car-length lead over the rest of the field, but by lap 11, Chase Silvia caught and overtook Strickland for the lead, and raced to the finish, edging Strickland by 0.232 seconds at the line, making it back-to-back wins to start his season. Andrew Gomes’ early-race efforts paid off well, as he secured third place at the checkered flag. Joey LeMay and Adam Harrison battled throughout the 15 laps, which stayed green from wire to wire. LeMay came home fourth and Harrison fifth. Brent Robidoux finished sixth and Mikey Lefort III finished seventh with a slight 0.142 second gap separating the two at the line. Dylan Calabro finished eighth, followed by Bobby Bettencourt III and Abbie Badejo. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw division will return to the track on Friday, June 10 for another 15-lap feature. By Sam Tully Darren Krantz Jr. found himself in a familiar spot Friday night when the checkered flag waved, claiming his second win of the season in as many weeks in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits. In similar fashion as the season opener, Krantz raced his way to the lead by lap three and went on to lead the rest of the 15-lap feature. Krantz is off to a hot start as he looks to defend his title of 2021 Champion in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits division. Milania Shilosky is the one driver closest to reeling in a red-hot Krantz as she notched another second-place finish, crossing the line just 0.847 seconds behind Krantz. Rounding out the top-three was Ryan Vanasse Jr., getting his Bandolero Bandit into the top-three for the first time this season. Fourth and fifth place were awarded to Bryson Robidoux and Samuel Macedo, respectively. The two battled side-by-side when the green flag waved to start the feature, as well as briefly following the lap three restart. Ultimately, each settled for a top-five finish. Allyha DeSomma finished sixth, followed by Nick Uhrig Jr., Parker Davis, Mike Hanafin, and Collin Vanasse, who rounded out the top-10. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Crystal Murray is off to a hot start in the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 division at Seekonk Speedway. The driver of the green No. 38 captured her second straight win to open the 2022 season on Friday night, rocketing to the front in the late stages. Christian Herman crossed the line first on the track but a post-race technical infraction sidelined him in the results. Murray would capture the flag for the second time in two weeks, with division veteran Henry Lavallee moving up to second-place in the final results. Tyler Duhancik rebounded from a tough first week to finish third, while Jarrod Freitas and Taylor Bowser finished the top-five. Kaine Duby finished sixth, followed by Daniel Hayes, Jacob Budzyna and Christine Cavallaro. The Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s will return to the track for round one of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series, set for 30 laps, on Friday, June 10. By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — Greg Perry may have limped into the pit area in the first Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock race of the season, but round two ended in Victory Lane. The defending and two-time champion captured his first win of the season in the Everett’s Triple Crown on Friday, June 3, scoring the victory in the 30-lap race. Perry started on the outside pole, quickly took the lead and led all the way to the checkered flag. Behind him, there was a lot of beating and banging, with Danny Massa and Jeremy Lambert coming out on top of late race battles, finishing second and third. Mike Henriques worked his way through the field, finishing fourth, while Jordan Threlfall rounded out the top-five. Timmy Ouellette was sixth, followed by Sam Lincoln, Jared Cordeira, Billy Chouinard and Mike Rotondo. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the track for their third race of the season on Friday, June 10, set for 25 laps. Deshaies, a former Seekonk Youth Racing Association champion, finished second in week one, and captured the checkered flag week two, winning the 25-lap feature on Friday, June 3. Deshaies, teaming with a new group in 2022, is showing plenty of speed in the opening weeks of the season. He passed Josh Parsons for the top spot just before halfway and was essentially unchallenged to the finish. Reese Bogue worked his way onto the podium, scoring a second-place finish, while Brendon Hammann followed up his opening night victory, finishing third. Branden LaBelle and Nicholaus Bulkeley rounded out the top-five. Richie Helger Jr finished sixth, followed by Jake Silvia, Brandon Tiezzi, Dustin Gagne and Ethan Avellar. FAST FRIDAY, NASCAR SATURDAY FILLED WITH EVERETT’S TRIPLE CROWNS THIS WEEKEND AT SEEKONK SPEEDWAY6/1/2022 SEEKONK, Mass. -- As Seekonk Speedway opens the month of June this weekend with both Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday racing, the theme of racing will be Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series action. With one month in the books for NASCAR Saturday racing, divisions will return to the track for the first time since May 21, while Fast Friday competitors are ready for their second week of the year. The weekend will include four total Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series events -including three on Fast Friday and one on NASCAR Saturday. On Friday, both Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions will take center stage with 15-lap Triple Crown races, while the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will battle for 30-laps. On NASCAR Saturday, Seekonk’s top division, the Pro Stocks, will compete for 60 laps in their Triple Crown event. Saturday night racing begins at 6 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m. for race fans. Fast Friday roars to life with the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws part of the show. In the first week of racing on May 27, more than 25 competitors showed up to race between the two divisions, the highest number since the inception of the division. After 15-lap races, Darren Krantz Jr. and Chase Silvia picked up feature wins — with two opposite experience levels between them. Krantz, the defending Bandolero Bandit champion, opened his season in style, while Silvia captured his first career win, establishing as himself as the early-season favorite. Names like Brent Robidoux, Ryan Vanasse Jr., Collin Vanasse, Milania Shilosky, Bradley Strickland and more will look to capture their first wins of the season this week. In the Helger’s Pure Stocks, five extra laps usually proves to matter. Billy Chouinard, a former division champion, took the win in the first race of the season, but had Jeremy Lambert breathing down his neck in the final laps. The top-10 cars were nose-to-tail for much of the race, and names like two-time champion Greg Perry, Danny Massa, Timmy Ouellette, Ethan Souza and more will be looking to open the Everett’s Triple Crown at the front of the pack in their 30-lap feature. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars may have started off with a rough race, but week two could be a different story. Brendon Hammann captured the victory in week one, with Devin Deshaies and Reese Bogue close behind, while names like Mason Tessier, Richie Helger Jr. and others were caught up in a wreck on the first lap. The 25-lap feature could see a variety of challengers at the front, but expect speed to prevail in the final laps. In the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s, Crystal Murray captured the checkered flag in their first race, dominating the second half en route to Victory Lane. For Murray, the green No. 38 is going to look to make it two-for-two — while Karlin Levesque, Tyler Duhancik, Taylor Bowser, Henry Lavallee and others will look to take her down. If the third Pro Stock race of the season is anything like the first two, look out, race fans. Tommy Adams and Mike Brightman are the two feature winners so far, with two of the wildest races in the last decade happening right here in 2022. Dave Darling hasn’t won yet, but the eight-time champion has to be the favorite heading into the extra-distance event. Tom Scully Jr., Ryan Vanasse, Bobby Pelland, Ryan Lineham and others will also be major contenders in their 60-lap event. The Late Model season has three winners in three races, with Richie Murray, Gerry DeGasparre Jr. and Vinnie Arrenegado taking trophies so far. Jacob Burns, Chase Belcher, Josh Hedges and Mark Jenison are coming in hot behind them, while Paul Lallier and Ryan Flood aren’t far behind after the first three events. The Late Model field could be one where five, six or seven different drivers win before someone repeats. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks also have three winners in three races, with Mike Cavallaro, Rick Martin and Barry Shaw Jr. opening the year out front. However, Brittany Campbell has been consistent, along with Mike Duarte and Jake Vanada. Will this Saturday’s 25-lap showdown mark a fourth different winner in four weeks? On the flip side, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division is the only one with a repeat winner through three weeks. 'Captain Fun’ — Craig Pianka — won on opening day and followed it up with another win in week three. Pianka leads defending division champion Chad Baxter by eight points, with Ed Perry, Doug Benoit and Vinny Pangelinan leading their championship standings early in the season.
