By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — After a rough and tumble start, the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division finish went right down to the wire Saturday. When two cars got together off turn four, the field slowed for the final caution of the race, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. When it was all set and done, Ed Perry rocketed to his second win of the season in the Sportsman division. At the drop of the green, contact up front collected multiple challengers, including names like Craig Pianka, Mark Healy and others. Once back underway, the race was rather clean and green - with Perry jumping out front and Steve Axon sitting second. They raced that way, with Perry in control, until the caution with just two laps to go. On the restart, Perry opened his gap again out front, proving he wasn’t going to be denied. He bested Adam Petty and Scott Serydynski Jr., who joined him on the podium. Axon would finish fourth, followed by Tyler Almeida. Doug Benoit finished sixth, followed by Colby Lambert, Jim Silvia, Chris Rioux and Andrew Gillis. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will return to racing on Saturday, June 18, for round two of their Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown, set for 35 laps.
