ree

SEEKONK, Mass. — Just five weeks remain in the 2025 Fast Friday and NASCAR racing season at Seekonk Speedway, and this weekend, it’s the final tune-up before the race for the championship begins in September. The fields will be set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup, with the top six drivers in the championship standings at the end of the August 22-23 events advancing. Many battles are tight - with the decision coming down to the final laps. All races this weekend are regular distance.

Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday kicks off early for fans. Fans Appreciation night includes the Pit Party from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the pit area, where fans can enter free with a purchased general admission ticket and meet and greet the stars and cars of the Action Track of the East up close and personal. Then, after qualifying heats, the annual Fans on Parade returns, where fans can walk onto the track and show support for their favorite driver and team.

The race for the playoffs in the Pro Stocks took a big swing last week, with Mike Brightman earning his first win of the season and Mark Jenison having a tough night. Now, with one race remaining, the race for the final spot includes three drivers separated by just 14 points. Jenison is in the final spot for now, but just two points up on Brightman and just 14 up on Nick Lascuola. While the three of them duke it out for the final playoff spot, the race for the three playoff bonus points for being the points leader at the end of the regular season is in a dead tie right now. Jacob Burns and David Darling each have 470 points, looking for the edge to get the bonus heading into the four-week championship stretch. With the 40-lap Pro Stock showdown set to be the final race of the weekend, look out, race fans - it’s going to be wild.

In shocking fashion, defending champion Luke LeBrun didn’t attend the most recent Late Model main event, pausing the potentially locked up Sunoco Drive For The Cup playoff field to a halt. It looked like the six drivers were nearly set going into last week - but with LeBrun missing the race - it certainly has closed it up. Chase Belcher, Charlie Rose, Richie Murray, Andrew Gomes and Mark Jenison are locked into the playoffs no matter what happens on Saturday night. The race for the final spot will come down to LeBrun and Connor Souza. LeBrun currently leads by 19 points, with Souza trying to close in. Souza took a large chunk out last week. The question is - will LeBrun be there for the final 30-lap showdown of the regular season? It’s a question that will decide whether or not LeBrun qualifies or Souza advances. The Late Models race this week adds an extra set of incentive for fans to be on the edge of their seats. In the race for the three playoff bonus points as points leader, Chase Belcher will earn it with a solid night. This week, their race is an extra $500 to win - now $1,300 - with a bonus courtesy of Fleet Maintenance LLC in the Dash For Cash.

A tough night for Nick Brightman and a strong one by Nick Wood has made the race for the final playoff spot in the Sportsman a little bit more clear. Colby Lambert, Adam Pettey, Doug Benoit, Jeremy Lambert and Scott Serydynski Jr are all locked into the Sportsman playoffs. Wood leads over Brightman by 28 points going into the finale. It’s not impossible for Brightman to get ahead, as last week, they were separated by only two markers going into race night and it blossomed open. In the race for the three playoff bonus points, Colby Lambert’s win last week opened his edge to 15 points over Pettey. Can he hang on in Saturday’s 25-lap main event?

With Jake Vanada’s second win of the season, Vanada jumped ahead of Rick Martin to lead the Sport Truck championship battle heading for the final race of the regular season. Vanada leads Martin by three points, with the leader at the end of this weekend earning three playoff bonus points. In third, Ethan Heilborn, a multiple-time season winner and Triple Crown champion, is only 11 points back. Those three will battle it out down to the final laps for the bonus points, but will all dance for the title in September no matter what. With an injury sustained in last week’s wreck, Mike Cavallaro will not race the rest of the season. He is currently fourth, but may hold on and become one of the six drivers racing for the championship, only time will tell. Tim Bolger Jr is currently fifth and Dane Saritelli currently holds the final playoff spot. First out is DJ Thibeault, who has been extra consistent in the last few weeks. Thibeault is just 19 points back of Saritelli for the final spot, and is 47 points back of Cavallaro. With a maximum of 55 points earned in one night, Thibeault could realistically find his way by Cavallaro with a strong night. There is a scenario where both Saritelli and Thibeault qualify. Fans will have to wait for the end of the 25-lap Sport Truck feature this Saturday to see who will advance to battle for the championship.

On Fast Friday, the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars championship battle saw yet another swing last week in the race for the final spot. With a victory, his first career, Ryan Vanasse Jr opened breathing room over the cutline in fifth place to 14 points - still not a lot! Richie Helger Jr., the defending champion, used a tough night from teammate Mason Tessier to jump into the final playoff spot in sixth. He leads Tessier by just eight points going into the finale. With three drivers this tight, only two of them will advance to race for the season crown. At the top, in the race for the three bonus points, Josh Parsons leads Jacob Burns by eight points after a second-place finish in last week’s Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown.

After another first-time winner last week in Jacob Budzyna, the Sport 4 playoff field for 2025 is set. Three-time season winner Richie Johnson will lock-up the three bonus playoff points with a solid night on Friday night after finishing top-five in every race this season so far. Budzyna will also qualify, with two-time winner Arthur Meack, winner Daniel Hayes, Christine Cavallaro and winner Samantha Sleboda also advancing. This Friday’s final 25-lap race of the regular season will serve as the perfect tune-up for drivers to get ready for the championship run. The question is, will one of these six win the race, or will someone else storm in and grab the trophy?

The final spot in the Pure Stock playoffs is up for grabs, with many drivers close in the race for the final position and many not safe to advance quite yet. Brent Robidoux scored his fourth victory of the season last Friday night, and will earn the three playoff points as the leader at the end of the regular season. Ethan Souza follows in second, comfortable going into the final week. Mike Henriques sits third with 366, while Matt Talbot has 364 and Rookie contender Zachary Keith 354. Former champion Jared Cordeira currently holds the final spot with 352. First out, Crystal Murray is 16 points back of Cordeira with 336. She is followed by Justin Menard, who is 32 points behind Cordeira with 320. It is likely that Menard will need some help to have a shot. Murray will also need someone above the cutline to have some trouble, but no one from Henriques in third on back is safe going into the final week. The 25-lap Friday night main event will determine it all.

3 - MIKE HENRIQUES - 366pts

4 - MATT TALBOT - 364pts

5 - ZACHARY KEITH - 354pts

6 - JARED CORDEIRA - 352pts

—————-

7 - CRYSTAL MURRAY - 336pts

8 - JUSTIN MENARD - 320pts

The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit playoff field is set. Carl Satterlund Jr leads by 10 points over Jace Chaber, looking to lock up the three bonus points as the leader at the end of the regular season this Friday night. Chaber is followed by Landon Solomito, who is only 12 points off the lead. Landon Heim, Brook Meyer and Elias Dib are fourth, fifth and sixth. There are no other drivers mathematically eligible to make the playoffs, so, the Bandolero Bandits are battling for glory this week before they lock in to chase the title in September.

In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws, Allyha DeSomma is in good shape to lock up the three bonus points as the championship leader to end the month of August. She leads by 18 points over Mason Silva, who has been strong of late, winning a race and consistently in the top-five. He could be peaking at the right time. Ryder Aguiar, coming off his first career win, is third. Jordan Duquette, David Bernier and Vincent Sarro currently are in position to advance into the playoffs. The only car outside that has a shot to climb in this week is Brady Connors, who is 28 points off the cutline. It will be tough, but Connors enters with optimism for Friday’s 15-lap feature event.

Seekonk Speedway concludes the regular season Friday, August 22. and Saturday, August 23. Fast Friday begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday’s green flag is at 6 p.m., proceeded by the Pit Party from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
