SEEKONK, Mass. — There will be a lot of clowning around off the track this Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. The Rhode Island Shriners Clowns are in town for their annual summer visit to the third-mile this Saturday, July 22, helping headline a full night of racing with the annual Trike Races for children and the second round of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series for the Pro Stocks. The Late Models, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman and the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will also be on track Saturday night. On Friday, July 21, the Fast Friday series returns headlined by round two of the Triple Crown for the Pure Stocks, along with both Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions, the Sport 4’s and the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars. Fast Friday action starts at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday night racing begins at 6 p.m. Tickets for both nights are available in advance today cheaper than at the gates, online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. The Rhode Island Shriners Clowns return to Seekonk this week. Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, truth and relief. Throughout history, both the Freemasons and Shriners have had a reputation for secrecy, but they have a straightforward mission. For more information on them, visit RIShriners.com. The Trike Races have been one of the highlights of this night for many years and the tradition continues this week. Attention all young speedsters and their families! Join us for thrilling tricycle races at Seekonk Speedway, organized by the Rhode Island Shriner's Clown Unit. This event promises loads of fun and excitement as children aged 3-5 and 6-8 gear up to showcase their racing skills on their trusty trikes or big wheels. Kids can enter with their trikes for inspection by visiting the base of the tower when they arrive. The Trike races will happen during intermission. On NASCAR Saturday, David Darling may have said he wasn’t running full-time entering the year, but will he re-think it now? He’s won three straight in the Pro Stocks and as the division heads for round two of the Everett’s Triple Crown, 60 laps, look out for him this week. Dylan Estrella, Tom Scully Jr., Colbey Fournier, Kenny Spencer and others will look to rebound after tough weeks last Saturday night, while Bobby Pelland III looks for one spot better and his first win of the year. The Late Model division enters the race with many contenders ready to battle for 30 laps. In the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman, the race to make the second annual Sunoco Drive For The Cup is on with names like Adam Pettey, Chad Baxter and others all looking to park in Victory Lane for the first time this season. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck season has seen multiple different winners including Brittany Campbell and Jake Vanada, who have two each. However, former champions Mike Duarte and Rick Martin (defending title holder) are both going to look for their first wins of the year in their 25-lap feature. On Fast Friday, both Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions have seen first-time winners this season, but it’s youth racing veterans Sam Macedo (Bandits) and Ryan Vanasse Jr. (Outlaws) leading their respective classes and coming off wins from last week. Friday’s racing includes round two of the Everett’s Triple Crown for the Pure Stocks, set for 30 laps. The stars and cars of this division include Scott Cestodio, Ethan Souza, Danny Massa and Timmy Ouellette - all four of them winners so far. Will someone new add their name to this list this week? The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars are coming off a photo finish last week that saw Jase Mongeon win for the first time in his Seekonk career, while the Sport 4’s saw Mikey LeFort grab his second win of the year in that competitive division. All of the racing across both nights is sure to be exciting with nine feature winners to be crowned this weekend.
