SEEKONK, Mass. – The offseason is in the rear-view mirror — and hopefully — the troubles with Mother Nature are as well. Seekonk Speedway will try again to open the 2024 NASCAR season this Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at the Action Track of the East. The NASCAR divisions will hit the track for the first time this season for short-track racing. The Pro Stocks, Late Models, Sportsman and Sport Trucks will all open their quest towards the season-long championship battle that will end in September. The Spectator Drags will also join the card to open their 2024 campaign to start the show. Race fans can purchase tickets for Saturday’s NASCAR event online today at SeekonkSpeedway.com, which will allow them to skip the line on race day. Race fans who purchased tickets for Opening Day originally, scheduled for May 5, will be able to use those tickets this weekend. This also goes for competitors and race teams who already had pit passes. In order to be eligible to use the grandstand tickets or pit pass, they must be provided at the gate on race day. Saturday’s schedule includes the pits opening at 2 p.m., while the grandstands open at 4:30p.m for advanced ticket holders ( 5 pm for day of event ticket sales). The first competition of the season will include Pro Stock time trials at 5 p.m. and the green flag for heat races at 6 p.m. Defending two-time Pro Stock champion Mark Jenison leads the charge into the opening 40-lap race of the season, closely followed by names like Bobby Pelland III, defending Late Model champion Vinnie Arrenegado, who is moving up to Pro Stocks, and Colbey Fournier. Look out for Mike Brightman, Kenny Spencer and others in the first 40-lap race of the season. The Late Model campaign kicks-off Saturday with multiple-time 2023 winner Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, Jenison, Chase Belcher, Brittany Campbell and many more chasing the checkered flag. Pro Stock regular and former Late Model champion Bobby Pelland III will also compete in the Late Models in the Vanasse family #11 machine. Defending Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman champion Steve Axon looks to open the Sportsman season in Victory Lane. He will be racing against the most consistent driver from 2023, Adam Pettey, Colby Lambert, Tyler Almeida, Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia, Doug Benoit, Josh Hedges and others. Seven-time Seekonk Speedway champion Rick Martin will open the Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck season in their 25-lap race looking to pounce. Look out for Jake Vanada, Darryl Church, Amy Arsenault, Brittany Campbell, Mike Duarte, Mike Cavallaro, DJ Thibeault and others in their main event. Pro Stock time trials, beginning at 5 p.m., are a yearly tradition that helps set the starting lineup for qualifying heats. All other divisions will have a blind draw to line up their qualifying races.
