SEEKONK, Mass. — The Late Model division continues to impress. Charlie Rose Jr. made a return to Seekonk Speedway and held off Vinnie Arrenegado and Jacob Burns after a close and classic battle in the final half of Saturday’s 30-lap Late Model feature to score the win.
It originally looked like it was going to be the night for Burns to win his second career race in the Late Models. He jumped out front early and was consistently holding his advantage at the front until a caution just into the second half of the race. Rose used the outside to edge out front for the lead, before a caution flew and it gave him the bottom lane out front. While Rose got by Burns, he had to hold off Arrenegado next, who worked the inside for many of the final 10 laps. They touched, a little bit, but it was another Seekonk clean, classic Late Model feature with Rose coming out on top, not running full-time this season. Arrenegado crossed second, one week after winning, while Burns finished in third, a strong run. Richie Murray was fourth and Jerammee Lillie completed the top-five. Chase Belcher finished sixth, followed by Reese Bogue, Paul Lallier, Corey Fanning and Bill Goodrow. The Late Models will return to the track on Saturday, September 10, for round one of the Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels, set for 30 laps.
