SEEKONK, Mass. — PJ Evans finally did it. He parked in Seekonk Speedway Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars Victory Lane on Friday night. As a non-playoff driver, Evans started towards the front and rocketed to the lead spot late when Devin Deshaies spun and rolled to the victory in the 25-lap race in round one of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. Evans beat Isaiah Newcomb and Branden LaBelle across the line at the finish to wrap the podium. Newcomb was the only playoff driver on the podium, while Jake Silvia, Josh Parsons, Reese Bogue, Brendon Hammann and Deshaies — all advancing to round two — followed closely. Not advancing to the second round was Mason Tessier, who finished ninth, and Nicholaus Bulkeley, who finished 17th after a final lap spin. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will return to the track for round two of the playoffs on Friday, September 16.
