Opening night, back to Victory Lane for Billy Chouinard. The former champion picked up the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock victory on opening night of Fast Friday, leading all 25 laps from the pole position. Chouinard may have been in the lead for the whole race, but it wasn’t easy — especially over the final few laps. Jeremy Lambert closed right to the back bumper as the field crossed with seven laps to go, and stayed right there over the final laps. When the field came off turn four for the checkered, there might have been a bit of contact, but it was Chouinard hanging on for the win over Lambert and Jim Reilly, who opened the year with a strong third-place effort. Mike Rotondo opened the season with an impressive fourth-place, while Danny Massa rounded out the top-five after 25 laps. Jordan Threlfall was sixth, followed by Mike Henriques, Timmy Ouellette, Sam Lincoln and Jared Cordeira. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock division will return to the track on Friday, June 3 for another 25-lap feature.
