SEEKONK, Mass. — Driving the Richie Helger Racing No. 13, Mikey LeFort charged to the front of the field quickly in Friday’s 25-lap Sport 4 race. He had to hold off Jarrod Freitas, the opening day winner, in the final few laps, but wasn’t going to let that stop him from getting back to Victory Lane.
LeFort’s charge to the front came from the middle of the pack, but it didn’t take him long. He took the lead and looked to be cruising, but Freitas was closing fast and making it a race. However, a caution with just two laps to go slowed the field and gave LeFort a chance to drive away. On the restart, he did just that, getting to Victory Lane. Freitas ended with a strong second-place finish, while Crystal Murray rebounded from a tough first week to finish third. Behind her, Henry Lavallee and Richie Johnson finished in the top-five spots. Taylor Bowser was sixth, followed by Daniel Hayes, Jacob Budznya, Christine Cavallaro and DJ Thibeault. The Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, June 9 for another race.
