By Souza Media SEEKONK, Mass. — As Seekonk Speedway hits the end of July, summer is heating up in a big way this weekend, with two nights of racing set for July 29 and 30. Fast Friday continues their season on July 29, heading straight for the inaugural Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuel. On Saturday, the annual Midsummer Thrill Show takes place, headlined by the Great American Trailer Race and much more. With just five weeks to go before the playoff field is set on Fast Friday, drivers hovering around the bubble spot need to pick up their game if they want to contend for the 2022 championship. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws, only six drivers will make the playoffs, while in the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks and Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, eight drivers will advance. As they run in the Bandits, the race for sixth is tight, as Bryson Robidoux leads Nick Uhrig Jr. by 10 points. Robidoux has been dealing with a recent string of bad luck, while Uhrig missed one race earlier in the season due to a medical issue. Up front, Darren Krantz, who had a tire fall off his car while leading last week, leads the standings over Milania Shilosky. Look for Sam Macedo and Collin Vanasse to try and get back on the podium this week for the second straight week in their 15-lap feature on Friday night. In the Outlaws, Chase Silvia has been the dominant force, winning six of the eight races and finishing on the podium in the other two. However — the battle for the sixth and final playoff spot is one of the tightest in all of Seekonk’s divisions. Mikey LeFort III sits fifth, just 8 points up on the bubble, while coming off his first career win, Bradley Strickland currently holds the sixth and final spot. Adam “Hollywood” Harrison is just 8 points back in seventh. As the season hits the final stretch, it looks like it will be a three-man race for two spots in this division. In the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s, the top-six drivers have separated themselves — essentially locking Crystal Murray, Tyler Duhancik, Karlin Levesque, Jarrod Freitas and Taylor Bowser into the playoffs. Behind them, Stephanie Bruneau leads Christine Cavallaro by just six points, with Daniel Hayes only eight points back of the final playoff spot. All three drivers have balanced finishes around the top-10 and it looks like it’s going to go down to the wire to decide who makes it into the playoffs. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks is a similar story. Danny Massa, Sam Lincoln, Greg Perry, Jeremy Lambert, Jordan Threlfall and Mike Henriques are far ahead of their competitors, and a few decent weeks will lock them in. In seventh, Mike Rotondo is just 14 ahead of the final spot, while one-time season winner Ethan Souza currently holds the final position. Behind him, Jared Cordeira is just six points back, while Timmy Ouellette is just 12 points behind. The race is tight in one of Seekonk’s most competitive divisions. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars is a similar story. Josh Parsons currently holds the final playoff spots, two points up on Jake Silvia. With seventh place Brendan LaBelle just 22 points ahead of Parsons, these three drivers are going to battle between themselves along with Richie Helger Jr., who finishes the top-10 in the current points, just 20 points from the playoffs. All five Fast Friday divisions are back in action this Friday, July 29, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Midsummer Thrill Show takes the green flag at 5 p.m., with one of the busiest Thrill Shows of the year scheduled. The Great American Trailer Race headlines this action-packed night which also includes the Troy City Tactical Spectator Drags, Figure 8 Races, Enduro Races, Enduro Drags, Powder Puff Races and more. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to this event in advance. Tickets for all 2022 remaining Seekonk Speedway events are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. The most recent Thrill Show, the Independence Day main event, was sold out. Tickets will be available at the track for all events as long as they are still available.
