Seekonk Speedway will kick-off the month of August in a big way this weekend - with two nights of action planned. On Friday, August 4, Fast Friday returns to the track for weekly racing as the championship battles continue to heat up heading into the playoffs. On Saturday, August 5, the Midsummer Thrill Show hits the track with the thrills and spills of Seekonk Speedway back on display for a full house of fans. Friday’s racing begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are available online in advance for just $10 per person or $13 at the gates on race day. Thrill Show action begins at 5 p.m. and tickets are also available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com for this show. Fans who purchase in advance will pay $25 in advance for adults, $12 in advance for ages 6-12 and kids five and under and parking are free. Prices are a bit higher at the gates on race day. On Fast Friday, battles towards September’s Sunoco’s Drive For The Cup will continue to heat up this week. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws will both be back on track, coming off events that saw a driver repeat as 2023 winner. Last week in the Bandits it was defending champion Sam Macedo on top, while Collin Vanasse added his second win of the year in the Outlaws. Will someone new become a first-time winner this week in Seekonk’s youngest divisions? The Sport 4 division also had someone repeat last week, as Jarrod Freitas rocketed to his third win of the season, leading the class. As he gets ready to chase the championship, can Freitas add yet another this week? Or can someone like Richie Johnson park his car in Victory Lane for the first time in his career after a podium last time out? The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks chased Scott Cestodio the first three weeks of the season, but then four different drivers went to Victory Lane. Last week, Cestodio was back on top for win number four. As August begins, multiple drivers like Sam Lincoln and Greg Perry have shown speed in recent weeks, but haven’t won yet this year. The Pure Stocks also include one of the closest Seekonk battles around the cutline to decide who will advance to the playoffs. And in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends, Isaiah Newcomb was on top again last week in the No. 22. He’s closely been chased lately by names like Josh Parsons, Richie Helger Jr., Nicholaus Bulkeley, Jacob “Rowdy” Burns and more. Who will win Friday’s 25-lap race? On Saturday, the Midsummer Thrill show, in part with East Coast Towing and Recovery, will showcase the Great American Trailer Race. Known as one of the top events of the Seekonk Speedway season, the Trailer race is definitely one you will not want to miss. The event also includes the East Coast Towing & Recovery Spectator Drags, the Crazy Figure 8 division, the Car & Truck Enduro Races, Car & Truck Enduro Drags and the Powder Puff division. This event is one fans love every year and Saturday will be the perfect time to visit the Speedway as the summer heats up.
