SEEKONK, Mass. -- Seekonk Speedway announced today that Columbus Energies will join the third-mile contingency program again for the 2022 season, sponsoring the Rookie of the Year Awards for each of the Seekonk divisions. With Seekonk’s nine divisions — spanning across both Fast Friday and NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series Saturday — seven of them will crown Rookie of the Year drivers this season. The only divisions that do not crown a Rookie of the Year are the two Bandolero divisions, as nearly all of the drivers are brand new.
That means the Pro Stocks, Late Models, Sport Trucks, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Legends Cars and Sport 4 drivers who are new to their respective divisions will be battling for the Columbus Energies Rookie of the Year honors. Founded in 1960 by Tony Macedonio, Columbus Energies began with humble beginnings as a two-pump gas station and a single heating oil delivery truck. But Tony had a vision for the future — and soon, Columbus Energies would become a much larger business that would serve the needs of customers throughout the Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island region. Columbus Energies, located just up the street from the track, features services in propane, oil and HVAC. You can check them out today at Columbusenergies.com. “We’re excited to welcome back Columbus Energies — a major supporter of short-track racing at Seekonk Speedway for many years,” Ed St. Germain, Director of Business Development at Seekonk Speedway, said. “Their business helps countless of our local businesses and residents of the local towns get through the entire year. We are happy to have them be a continued part of the Seekonk Speedway family and look forward to watching competitors race for these special awards during the season. The Rookie of the Year honors are important to our competitors.” You can also give Columbus Energies a call at 508-674-1492 for immediate service. We love working with Seekonk Speedway and recognize that “Rookie of the Year” is a special award to accomplish at any level of racers career,” Jay Macedonio of Columbus Energies, said. "Hopefully the prizes and endorsements they earn, help the these teams return for successful second years. Good luck to all the racing families this season. I look forward to the start!" Seekonk Speedway wishes to thank Columbus Energies and all of the track sponsors for the new year.
