SEEKONK, Mass. — When you looked at the starting lineup for the Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck feature on Saturday night, you knew Darryl Church would have a good shot at contending for his first win of the season.
After 25 laps, Church was the clear favorite. He rocketed quickly to the front from pole position and never looked back, leading all 25 circuits to roll to the checkered flag at the third-mile. After a year filled with ups and downs, Church is hitting his stride at the right time heading into the inaugural Seekonk Speedway Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuel. Rick Martin finished second, charging through the field and closing the gap late, even though he ran out of time. In third, Jake Vanada posted another strong run, locking himself into the playoffs, besting Tom Scully III for the final spot. Mike Cavallaro returned to the top-five in fourth and Mike Duarte was fifth after 25 laps. Barry Shaw Jr. finished sixth, followed by Amy Arsenault, Brittany Campbell, Ethan Heilborn and Danny Thibeault. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will return to the track on Saturday, September 10, for round one of the Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels, set for 25 laps.
