SEEKONK, Mass. — Crystal Murray saw a pack of cars riding around the bottom in front of her in the first round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for the Sport 4’s on Friday night, and decided to go around all of them to pick up the win. Murray, the defending division champion, used the top lane to pass the five cars in front of her nearing the halfway point in the 30-lap feature then drove away from the competition to win her first race of the season in round three. Murray’s outside lane moves left a long list of challengers to battle for second. In the end, Tyler Duhancik, rebounding after a tough wreck a few weeks ago, was able to finish in the runner-up spot with Henry Lavallee not far behind in third. Sam Matter made some nice moves to finish in fourth and Richie Johnson rounded out the top-five. Jarrod Freitas finished sixth, followed by Daniel Hayes, Taylor Bowser, Christine Cavallaro and Jacob Budznya. The Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, June 24 with another main event, set for 25 laps. SEEKONK, Mass. — It’s been something everyone knew would happen, it was just a matter of when. Friday night at Seekonk Speedway was the night for Nick Uhrig Jr. The driver of the No. 11 put together an impressive performance in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, leading the entire race to pick up his first career win. Not only did Uhrig score his first win, he did it in a race that included a mid-race break due to Mother Nature. The field stopped after a caution on lap two due to some rain at the track, then finished off their race after the Sport 4 feature. In the end, it didn’t matter for Uhrig, he was carrying the checkered flag. Defending division champion Sam Macedo finished second in the race with Mike Hanafin in third. Jace Chaber made his Seekonk debut in the No. 00 to score a strong fourth-place finish while Mason Silva was fifth. Ryder Aguiar, Carl Satterlund Jr., Luka Dib and Parker Davis finished off the results. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, June 24 with another main event, set for 15 laps. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. Seekonk Speedway is ready to roar back to life this weekend with a triple-header of action, including Fast Friday, NASCAR Saturday and the first Monster Trucks show of the season on Sunday. Fast Friday returns with five divisions, while NASCAR Saturday has four, and the Monster Trucks on Sunday includes the thrills and spills of the monsters around the Seekonk third-mile, an event fans will not want to miss. The Monster Trucks return on Sunday for their first of two shows for 2023. The show begins at 2 p.m., and includes the East Coast Towing Spectator Drags along with multiple Trucks including Stinger Unleashed, Shock Wave and more. It’s the perfect way to spend Father’s Day with your family, especially for the kids. Sunday’s Monster Truck show will include a free pit party for Monster Trucks and Spectator Drags from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday’s racing will be held with Youth Sports Night and Military Night at the track. All youth sports teams are encouraged to join Seekonk Speedway in celebrating the summer season at the races, while Military Night, rescheduled from the May 20 rainout, will give teams and fans the chance to honor those who have been lost serving our great country and those who continue to serve. The Pro Stocks are back for just their third race of the season Saturday night, this time the first round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series, set for 60 laps. It’s been one year since Mike Brightman held off Dave Darling in a thrilling finish to the Pro Stock Triple Crown, and he will be back on track looking to do the same this week. Names like current points leader and defending champion Mark Jenison, winner Dylan Estrella, Rick Martin, Tommy Adams and more will contest the main event at the end of a full night of racing. Prior to the Pro Stocks, the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will hit the track for their fourth race of 2023, with Steve Axon coming off a second straight victory in a wild finish with Chad Baxter. The two raced side-by-side to the finish, inches apart last week in their Triple Crown opener. Baxter has yet to win in the first three events, and will be a favorite for this week along with Adam Pettey, who has three podium finishes in three races. The full division lineup is set for 25 laps. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks also is a division with one driver coming off two straight wins. Jake Vanada picked up the victory in the 35-lap Triple Crown opener last week, just about one month after winning race two of the season. Rick Martin and Mike Duarte have been impressive in the Trucks so far, finishing inside the top-five in both races. And in the Late Models, former Legends Cars champion Luke Lebrun looks to make it two straight. Names like Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, Vinnie Arrenegado, Chase Belcher, Connor Souza, Richie Murray and many others will compete in a 30-lap feature on Saturday night. One more thing of note about Saturday — Seekonk Speedway will open the pit area to race fans at the conclusion of practice each week. Fans can come into the pit area and walk around and meet their favorite drivers before leaving the pits after the driver meeting in time for racing to begin. Fast Friday is coming off a rainout and back with a full card of five divisions on tap, including two Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series races. The Sport 4’s and Pure Stocks will go the extra-distance, both for 30 laps. In the Sport 4’s, Mikey LeFort and Jarrod Freitas have been to Victory Lane, with names like Crystal Murray, Taylor Bowser, Richie Johnson and others off to good starts with top-five runs. The Pure Stocks are all chasing Scott Cestodio, who won both of their first two events. Names like Mike Henriques, Danny Massa, Greg Perry, Ethan Souza, Nick Brightman and others have also shown plenty of speed. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws will both be on track for 15 laps, while the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars are also on the card. Ryan Vanasse Jr. and Brent Robidoux split the first two Outlaw races, coming to the line just inches apart in race two. In the Bandits, Parker Davis has won both races. The Legends Cars had a rough and tumble first race, but rebounded with a strong second week. Brenden LaBelle and Jacob Burns are the two Legends Cars winners so far.

SEEKONK, Mass. — Matt Hirschman dominated the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s return to Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night, rolling to victory in the Seekonk 150. Hirschman won the Mayhew Tools pole award to kick-off the night and then led the entire 150-lap distance to take the feature win. It wasn’t his first Modified win at Seekonk, but the Pennsylvania native became the first two-time Tour winner in 2023 in the sixth race of the season, and whopped the field by doing it in a classic dominating performance.
While Hirschman led the race, Doug Coby and Ron Silk tried to chase him down. As they chased him through lapped traffic, Hirschman lapped the fourth-place car in the final laps of the race. However, a caution allowed three-time series champion Justin Bonsignore, who was fourth, to get his lap back. At the end of the race, just five cars were on the lead lap. “Pretty dominant performance, doing it from the pole,” Hirschman said. “It’s not a pit-stop race, so as long as you have a car that’s going to handle and stay with you, you can keep it out front. I believe this [race] was a big unknown for a lot of teams because of the [new] pavement and the characteristics of the track changed. I think I’m going to like it. This has always been a good track for me, not a great track. But now winning a Whelen Tour race here — we’ve kind of won it all here.” Hirschman picked up the victory over Coby, Silk, Bonsignore and Anthony Sesely. J.B. Fortin, Jon McKennedy, Austin Beers, Kyle Bonsignore and Anthony Nocella completed the top 10. Saturday’s Seekonk 150 featured three cautions, two of which were the products of Jake Johnson spins. The third and final caution of the race came when Nocella spun with just 16 laps remaining. A replay of the Seekonk 150 will broadcast on CNBC on Sunday, June 18 starting at 12:30 p.m. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rolls next to Riverhead Raceway in New York on June 24. SEEKONK, Mass. — After running the final race of the night on Saturday, after the Whelen Modified Tour, the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman did not disappoint. Chad Baxter led most of the middle part of the race, but Steve Axon worked the outside lane to victory by mere inches, after the two tossed the lead back and forth in a classic, clean Street Stock battle.
Axon and Baxter battled side-by-side for the lead for the final 15 laps of the race, barely touching. As two former champions battled it out, when they came to the line, Axon won by .072 seconds over Baxter after 35 laps, with Adam Pettey watching both of them from close behind, finishing in third. The race was the first in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for the division. Colby Lambert and Randy Moretti finished the top-five. Ed Perry, Chris Gomes, Ryan Lineham, Craig Pianka and Don Perry finished the top-10. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will return to the track on Saturday, June 17 for a 25-lap main event. SEEKONK, Mass. — For the second straight race in the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks, Jake Vanada was celebrating in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. In the first round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown, Vanada worked his way through the field slowly, but methodically, passing to the front of the pack and taking the lead from Bobby Tripp with just a few laps remaining to win his second straight.
Vanada took the lead on lap 31, then drove away from defending champion Rick Martin to take the feature win. Martin would finish second, with Mike Duarte scoring yet another podium on the season, finishing third. Tripp and opening night winner Brittany Campbell rounded out the top-five at the end of 35 laps. Daryl Church, Amy Arsenault, Ethan Heilborn, Tom Scully III and Marissa Morgan would complete the top-10. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will return to the track on Saturday, June 17 for a 25-lap main event. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest updates. SEEKONK, Mass. — Luke LeBrun has shown plenty of speed at Seekonk Speedway in the Late Models this season, and on Saturday night, it all ended with a feature win. In the third race of the year, LeBrun rocketed to the front of the field and pulled away in the final laps to win the opener of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown, a 45-lap feature. LeBrun had to chase down former Sportsman champion Corey Fanning, who took the top spot on lap eight and led until LeBrun made the winning move on lap 28. From there, LeBrun drove away, while Fanning had to fend-off the challenges of defending champion Mark Jenison over the final laps and was able to accomplish the goal. Jenison would finish third, adding another podium, now with top-three finishes in all three races. Vinnie Arrenegado finished fourth and Jacob Burns finished fifth, as the two drivers traded the positions back and forth over the final few laps in a thrilling battle. Bill Goodrow, Scott Serydysnki Jr., Charlie Rose, Chase Belcher and Nathan Tracey finished the top-10. The Late Models will return to the track on Saturday, June 17 for a 30-lap main event. When race six of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season takes the green flag this Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway, Doug Coby will feel at home. The Milford, Connecticut, native is a multiple-time Seekonk winner – both in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (2019, most recent winner and 2017) and in the track's prestigious Open Wheel Wednesday $10,000 to win Modified race, multiple times. Not only has he won at Seekonk in Modifieds, he’s also a winner of the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial for the NEMA Midgets. Seekonk, a third-mile oval, is a place where Coby feels he has the driving style to accomplish the goal heading into Saturday night: become the first two-time Tour winner in 2023. Through five Tour events, Coby is one of five different winners, rolling to Victory Lane at Monadnock Speedway in May. He’s joined by Ron Silk, Matt Hirschman, Justin Bonsignore and Austin Beers on that list. Seekonk does have new pavement down for 2023 down in the corners, something Coby is looking forward to trying in practice to see what it changes, if anything. “I don’t think it’s going to be the same old Seekonk from a driver's perspective,” Coby said. “I think it’s going to change the part of the track where a lot of people struggle, getting off the corner with their right foot and being there at the end. I think the pavement will give some people an ability to run outside more, hang around, in general have more grip… all of the things you prepare yourself for will be a bit different. The Mayhew Tools team has been working hard and will be ready to roll Saturday.” Racing at Seekonk Saturday begins with NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice from 3-4 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and the green flag for the Seekonk 150 at 8 p.m. All tickets are available in advance at SeekonkSpeedway.com and will be available on race day at the gates. For those who will not make it to the track, fans can watch live on FloRacing.TV. For more information on Doug Coby, visit DougCobyRacing.com and follow his page on Facebook for the latest news and updates, including from the track on race day. Justin Bonsignore Heads To Seekonk For Saturday Night Showdown
A Saturday night short-track showdown in Massachusetts is up next for Justin Bonsignore and the Ken Massa Motorsports team. This Saturday night, June 10, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour heads to Seekonk Speedway for the Seekonk 150 – race six of the 19-event 2023 calendar. Bonsignore enters the race with one win in the first five races of the season – at Riverhead Raceway – but the three-time series champion has top-10 finishes in all events and top-fives in all but one. Heading to Seekonk, a place where Bonsignore won in 2018, the New York native has a high amount of confidence. Seekonk recently paved the corners on both ends of the third-mile, adding yet another element to Saturday’s race. No Modifieds have competed in a race on the surface yet in competition this season, but the track has been running weekly events and the racing has been some of the best the track has seen. “Definitely excited to get to Seekonk and try the new pavement and see how it impacted the track,” Bonsignore said. “We’ve had a pretty consistent season so far, but we are looking to get back to Victory Lane again with our Phoenix Communications team. We’re going to be six races into the year and the summer stretch is about to get underway. It’s going to be a busy and important time for our team.” A full day of racing at Seekonk Speedway also includes their weekly Sport Trucks, Sportsman and Late Models, all with extra-distance races. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will practice from 3-4 p.m., with qualifying at 5:30 p.m., and the 150-lap at 8 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at SeekonkSpeedway.com and will also be available at the track on race day. For those who can’t make it, FloRacing.TV will also have live coverage at 8 p.m. For more information on three-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore and his Kenneth Massa Motorsports team, visit JustinBonsignore.com and follow his Athlete page on Facebook for the latest updates. |
