As one of Seekonk Speedway’s most exciting divisions gets ready for 2024, the Sport 4 class of drivers looks to be stout once again. Led by veterans, the division also includes a good mix of rising talent looking to begin their racing career on Fast Friday. For the last two years, Crystal Murray has been at the top of the Sport 4 division. The two-time champion enters 2024 looking for a three-peat in the No. 38, but the task of accomplishing her goal will not be easy. Look for Murray to win often and make the playoffs, then her chase towards another title will begin. Murray will be tightly challenged by names like Tyler Duhancik, Mikey LeFort and Richie Johnson. All three of these drivers are proven race winners and one of them is a former champion. The former champ, LeFort, is back in the No. 99 again for Helger’s Racing, looking to get back to the head table. Duhancik, a driver in the Phil’s Propane stable, has struggled with mechanical gremlins and wrecks over the years, but always has speed. He hopes to put some past misfortune behind him and contend for the title in 2024. Johnson, who made the jump from the Spectator Drags last year, won a race and was around the top-five often. Johnson may be primed for a breakout season in Seekonk’s Sport 4 division. Other names to watch include Henry Lavallee, Taylor Bowser and Justin Leduc. For Lavallee, a multiple-time winner in the division, he is always up near the front when it comes time for the checkered flag. Bowser purchased the car driven by multiple-time 2023 winner Jarrod Freitas, and is primed to seek her first career win this year. Leduc went to Victory Lane last year and looks to be primed to make a run deep into the playoffs in 2024. Look out for names like Matt Pion, former champion Dave Westgate, Samantha Mattera, Daniel Hayes and Christine Cavallaro. The Sport 4 field continues to showcase some of the best racing Seekonk Speedway offers. The 2024 season opens for the Seekonk Sport 4 division on Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Sport 4’s will be Friday, September 27.
