FAST FRIDAY, NASCAR SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND ON TAP AT SEEKONK SPEEDWAY

SEEKONK, Mass. — The second doubleheader weekend of the year is upon us at Seekonk Speedway.

Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday both return to the track this week, with Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series action headlining both nights, and the East Coast Towing & Recovery Spectator Drags also joining the action on NASCAR Saturday.

Fast Friday begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday goes green at 6 p.m. This Saturday is also Scout Night at the track.

It’s the fourth race of the season for the Pro Stocks on NASCAR Saturday, as the division returns to action after two weeks off. Jacob “Rowdy” Burns rocketed to Victory Lane the last two times out, showing he may be a rookie, but will make a major push towards the title. Vinnie Arrenegado is the only other winner going into this Saturday’s 40-lap main event. Early in the season, though, it’s defending champion Dylan Estrella who shows the way in the championship battle by four points over Burns, 12 over Bobby Pelland III and 19 over Mark Jenison. Will one of these drivers be on top this week or will Mike Brightman, Colbey Fournier or rookie contender Andrew Gomes have something to say?

The Late Models rocket back to the track Saturday after a wild 45-lap opener to their Everett’s Triple Crown that ended with Luke LeBrun picking up his second victory in four events. He bested Charlie Rose in another classic Late Model showdown, and the two will certainly be threats going into the 30-lap feature. Chase Belcher has been the most consistent driver to not win so far, currently second in the championship battle, just six points back. Andrew Gomes, who is doing double duty between the Late Models and Pro Stocks, is also off to a strong start. Names like Mark Jenison, Richie Murray, Connor Souza, Brittany Campbell and more should be ones to watch this week.

Although he only has two victories in four weeks, it feels like Scott Serydynski Jr. has dominated the opening sprint of the Helger’s Sportsman season. Serydynski jumped out front and drove away in their most recent event, but Colby Lambert was still right there in second when the checkered flag went into the air. Serydynski, Colby Lambert, his brother Jeremy and Adam Pettey have been inside the top-five in all four Sportsman events so far this year. All of them have won except Jeremy, who would love to add his name to the list. He may have to contend with Josh Gerard, though - as the former Star Speedway regular - who is running Seekonk this season - is impressively running at the front of the pack with limited Seekonk experience. The Sportsman are back on Saturday for 25 more laps of excitement.

The second round of the Everett’s Triple Crown will already begin this week with the Sport Trucks. Jake Vanada is coming off a victory in the most recent 25-lap feature, putting an exclamation point on what has been a fast Truck right from week one. While he won, Mike Cavallaro and Tim Bolger joined him on the podium. Cavallaro leads the championship battle by 19 points, with four podium finishes in the first four events. The former champion certainly has figured out the Truck and looks to be in position to make another run at a championship. Bolger, Vanada, Radical Rick Martin, Ethan Heilborn and Amy Helger should all be considered favorites to try and win the second Triple Crown round. Back in the first Triple Crown event, it was Martin who went to Victory Lane, locking himself into the finale in August. Who will win and join him in the finals? And who will use consistency to get there?

The East Coast Towing & Recovery Spectator Drags will be on track Saturday for their third event of the season. Matt Desrosiers leads Liam Monaghan and Jarred Smith in their point standings heading for round three. The Spectator Drags will run after heat races, before feature events.

Fast Friday kicked off last week, with the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars feature ending the night shortened after just six laps due to a heavy mist in the area. The race has been scrapped, and this week will mark a brand new night of racing with the Everett’s Triple Crown Series beginning with 30 laps of excitement. There were 26 cars in the pit area for their week one showdown.

The Sport 4 season opened with a tight battle to the finish between Richie Johnson and former champion Dave Westgate. In the end, it was Johnson coming out on top, taking the lead on the final restart. Behind them, Matt Pion, Jacob Budzyna and Henry Lavallee finished in the top-five spots. As they enter week two, can someone like Mikey LeFort III or AJ Manuel come out on top after 25 laps?

It’s the first round of the Triple Crown for both the Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws this Friday night. Week one saw a wild wreck in the Outlaw feature, ending with Vincent Sarro capturing his first career win. Jordan Duquette finished in second, his best career run, with Allyha DeSomma in third. Collected in the wreck was defending Bandit champion David Bernier, Ryder Aguiar, Mike Hanafin and others - all running near the front of the field when it happened. Look for them to rebound this Friday night.

In the Bandits, Jace Chaber bested Mason Goodale and Landon Solomito to win the season-opener. Goodale won’t return for week two, as he competes mostly at Riverhead Raceway, but will run part-time at Seekonk this season. This means Chaber will contest with Solomito, Carl Satterlund Jr., Ryan Iannarelli, Elias Dib and others in Friday’s main event.

Both Bandolero races are Triple Crown events, but still 15-lap distances.

The Helger’s Pure Stock season opened with Mike Henriques on top. Ethan Souza and Jared Cordeira followed closely in second and third, showing they will be factors early in the season. Heading for race two, names like Brent Robidoux, the defending champion, Danny Massa, Crystal Murray, Bryson Robidoux, Peter Bleau and Matt Talbot will all be in action, along with others.
