BURNS HOLDS OFF BELCHER TO WIN LATE MODEL FEATURE

ree

SEEKONK, Mass. — It was a battle between a playoff contender and a non-playoff contender, for the win in Saturday’s Late Model event at Seekonk Speedway.

Jacob “Rowdy” Burns captured the checkered flag in the 30-lap opener of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup for the Late Models, holding off regular season champion and playoff contender Chase Belcher to accomplish the task. Belcher’s strong second-place finish was good enough to lock him into the Final Four for championship night on September 27.

Ryan Flood, in a rare appearance, charged through the field to finish third. Andrew Gomes and Mark Jenison, two more playoff contenders, followed in fourth and fifth.

They were followed by David Lougee, Rey Lovelace, Tyler Lallier, Randy Burr and Jeff Belyea.

The Late Models will return to the track on Saturday, September 20, for the final race to set the final four in the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
