SEEKONK, Mass. — Josh Parsons started from the pole in Friday’s 30-lap Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars feature and wasn’t going to let anyone take him off the top. Parsons led the entire distance to take the No. 09 back to Victory Lane for the first time in a while in the competitive class. While Parsons won, Mason Tessier scored a sixth-place finish, capturing the championship in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. PJ Evans charged from the back in the race to finish second, while Nicholaus Bulkeley finished in third spot. Jacob Burns and Jake Silvia completed the top-five. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will return to the track on Friday, August 13 for another 25-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — Darren Krantz Jr. did everything he needed to do in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits on Friday night. Krantz rocketed to the front of the field early in the 15-lap Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series finale and held off all challengers when it mattered most. Not only did Krantz add another victory to his 2022 season, but he was able to also pickup the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series championship. While Krantz won, Milania Shilosky raced through the field in the second half of the race to finish second. Collin Vanasse went to the rear of the field twice, but was able to work his way back up to finish third. Ryan Vanasse Jr and Rodney Dowless completed the top-five. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits will return to the track on Friday, August 13 for another 15-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — Chase Silvia used a smooth move early in the finale of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown and never looked back on Friday night. Silvia found himself at the front of the field quickly, capturing his seventh victory in 10 races in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw season. Not only did he win the race, Silvia also earned the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series championship trophy, adding to his already impressive 2022 season. Bradley Strickland worked through the pack and had closed to the bumper of Silvia, but had to settle for second. Andrew Gomes, Mikey LeFort III and Adam Harrison finished the top-five after 15 laps. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, August 13 for another 15-lap feature. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. SEEKONK, Mass. — AJ Manuel wasn’t going to be denied. In his final race in the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 division, Manuel raced from the back to the front well before the halfway point, scored the feature win and also captured the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series title for 2022. Only running three races this season, Manuel made it count, winning all three of them in what he says will be his final ride. Henry Lavallee followed up a victory the week before and returned to the podium in second, while Crystal Murray continued her own podium streak, finishing in third. Justin Leduc scored a career best, a fourth-place finish, while Tyler Duhancik followed in fifth spot after 30 laps. The Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, August 13 for another 25-lap feature. VOTE FOR THE MOST POPULAR DRIVER ⬇️ SEEKONK, Mass. -- As Seekonk Speedway inches closer to the inaugural Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels, set for September, NASCAR Saturday announcer Sam Tully will begin walking you through the points bubble weekly. This is the first installment in the Drive For The Cup update. Let’s take a look at which drivers are just barely inside the top-eight, which are on the bubble, and which need to get shaking if they want to compete for the title in 2022. WHAT IS THE BUBBLE? For those just tuning in to this season at Seekonk Speedway, all Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday divisions are utilizing a playoff-style format for the first time in the 75-year history of the track. What this means is that after the weekend of August 27, each division will be whittled down to just the top eight drivers (except Bandoleros, six), who will be eligible to go forward and compete for the season championship in the remaining three weeks of the playoffs. Until August 27, however, all eyes will be on the points cutoff, or, the “bubble” between eighth and ninth place. CHAZ’S AUTO BODY SPORT TRUCKS The Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Truck division has given fans an exciting mix of proven veterans and incoming rookies this season. One of those rookies is Tom Scully III, who currently sits 19 points to the good of the bubble in eighth place. Scully has been consistent through nine weeks of racing, finishing in the top 10 every week except for week five. While 19 points may seem like a serviceable lead to nurse into the playoffs, all bets are off with Jake Vanada on the outside looking in. Had it not been for an unfortunate disqualification following the week eight feature, Vanada would have 48 more points to his name, putting him squarely in seventh in the standings. Instead, the road into the playoffs just got a little bit tougher for the No. 29 team. But, Vanada has clearly proven he can drive to the front of the field, achieving four top-five finishes this season, and will surely be shooting for more as he races to close the point gap to Scully. Amy Arsenault is another driver who has done her fair share of dancing around the bubble this season. This past weekend, the driver of the No. 9 machine went out and did the best possible thing she could do for her playoff hopes – win her heat AND her feature. Coming away from the July 23 raceday with maximum points weekend (55 of them) has got to feel good, as she now sits 43 points to the good of the bubble. HELGER’S SOUTH COAST POWER EQUIPMENT SPORTSMANS The battle around the bubble of the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division is really starting to heat up, as we see just 17 points separate our last four drivers to the good of the bubble. The first driver on the outside looking in is Adam Pettey, who currently trails Tyler Almeida by 24 points. Petty has been on a bit of a slide the last couple of weeks following a DQ in week eight and a 19th-place finish in week nine, allowing what has been a razor-thin single digits points margin in recent weeks to grow to the double-digit hurdle it is now. Look for things to square off for the number #57 once we go back racing in August. Tyler Almeida has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride in the points standings in recent weeks, sitting as high as fourth in the points just five weeks ago and now finding himself as the last car to the good of the bubble. Look for the #97 car to string together some more strong finishes and solidify his standing in the top eight. Scott Serydynski Jr. is a driver who has been on both sides of the hotly contested bubble this season, and made a statement this past weekend after going out and claiming 55 points by winning his heat and ultimately being declared the feature winner following post race tech inspection. Serydynski has been a strong competitor in the Sportsman division all season long, and last weekend’s result suggests he’s just getting started as we ramp up into playoff mode. Colby Lambert and Steve Axon are two other drivers who are still looking to definitively punch their tickets to the playoff chase. Lambert has put together a steady campaign in 2022, piloting his #54 car to two top-five finishes and several top-10’s, and now sits 38 points to the good of the bubble in sixth. Look for Lambert to snatch a couple more finishes well inside the top-10 to lock himself in for a playoff chase. Axon, who did the bubble dance a couple weeks back due to missing a week of competition, now finds himself tied with Serydynski for fifth, 41 points to the good of the bubble. Axon has already made a few trips to the top-five this season, and a couple more similar outings should do the trick to lock in his playoff hopes. There’s still plenty to be decided here in the Sportsman division, and each of these driver’s control their own fate heading down the stretch. It’ll be a nailbiter to see who is in and who is out between these drivers. It’s worth a mention that should any of these drivers have a bum week or two in the points, look for Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia, currently sitting 49 points below the cutoff, to be a dark horse to jump into playoff contention. NASCAR SATURDAY LATE MODELS The Late Model Division showcases Seekonk Saturday’s tightest points race so far, with just 47 points separating our top eight drivers. As tight as the standings are to the good of the bubble, things surprisingly start to loosen up when you look south of the cutoff. Jeramee Lillie sits in eighth place, 44 points to the good of Josh Hedges. Hedges, who was up as high as third place in the points as recently as June 25, has not raced in either of the last two outings. This absence has unsurprisingly washed his standing below the playoff bubble, and the more time he spends away from the wheel of his #29 machine, the narrower the window to recoup his deficit gets, in turn providing relief for Lillie & company. Bill Goodrow, Ryan Flood, and Reese Bogue are the next three drivers out, currently sitting 73, 85, and 90 points out, respectively. Goodrow has the least distance to cover out of the three, and has had chances the last few weeks to start eating into that points deficit with starts at the front of the field. As Goodrow continues to feel out his #32 machine after several years away from the track, watch for things to click for this team and keep the car towards the front of the pack to start drumming up some late season momentum in August. NASCAR SATURDAY PRO STOCKS Seekonk’s Pro Stock Division has run just seven features so far this season, compared to the rest of the Saturday night divisions, which have run nine to date. Despite the shortage of features, there has surely been no shortage of fireworks on track from week to week, and a couple of surprise drivers in and around the bubble to boot. Kenny Spencer is the last driver to the good of the bubble, sitting on just a 14-point lead ahead of Rick Martin. Spencer started the season strong with a second place finish, but since then, suffice to say the No. 0 car has been unable to match the success it found on opening weekend. Fortunately enough for Spencer, he has been able to run just good enough from week to week to keep himself a step ahead of some of his other embattled competitors. At a glance, it may come as a surprise to some that Ryan Vanasse is currently on the outside looking in, sitting in 10th place, 23 points off the bubble. Some quick reflection on our season to date however conjures the streak of bad luck the #11 team has been dealt, and the handful of wrecks and spins Vanasse has been caught up in. The #11 car was absent from competition on July 23, stalling him out further in the points standings, but hopefully this more than capable driver can get back to the action in August and salvage some fruitful point totals in the remainder of the regular season to keep hopes of a playoff run alive. Tom Scully Jr. and Rick Martin both had a productive week as far as climbing up the points standings go last time out, each gaining two positions in the rankings. Scully has finished inside the top three the last three weeks running, doing exactly what he needs to distance himself from the bubble, now with a 32-point cushion. Martin finished seventh this past weekend, which got him ahead of two drivers absent from competition, Vanasse and Ryan Lineham. Barring any big time shake ups, it seems it may be a two-horse race between Martin and Vanasse to see who can catch Kenny Spencer first. That is unless one of our top eight really starts to slide in the points, in which case, look for rookie contender Danny Thibeault to potentially chip away at his 49-point gap in the remaining four weeks. IN CONCLUSION With July 30 playing host to the Midsummer Thrill Show, Seekonk’s Saturday night divisions will return to action on August 6 - the first of four remaining weeks before our playoff cutoff. There’s no telling what late-season shake ups will rock the standings in any of our divisions. Be sure to come and watch the late-season excitement unfold right before your eyes at 6:00PM on Saturday nights at the Action Track of the East. SEEKONK, Mass. — On Saturday, August 6, Seekonk Speedway will go the extra distance with four Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series finale races. As part of each event, four drivers will be racing each other for the Triple Crown title, with the one that finishes the best capturing the crown. In the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks, Mike Cavallaro, Brittany Campbell, Rick Martin and Barry Shaw Jr will race for the Triple Crown title. All four of them have victories during the 2022 season, but Campbell and Martin have been especially strong of late. Campbell picked up her first win of the season a few weeks ago, and Martin has three wins of his own. Shaw may have won the first Triple Crown race to lock himself into the final four, and Cavallaro may have got in on points — but can they find their way to the top of the class in the 35-lap feature? The Pro Stock 60-lap finale might be the most anticipated since the inception of the Triple Crown Series. With four drivers racing for the crown, three of them come to light as recent success drivers in the division. Mike Brightman and Dave Darling battled down the final laps of the first Triple Crown race, with Brightman edging out for the victory. In the second round, Darling passed Brightman in the final laps to take the win. Will the two of them resume their battle in the finale and race for it between themselves? Tom Scully Jr. and Colbey Fournier join them in the final race, with Scully picking up an emotional win just a month ago, and Fournier becoming consistent of late inside the top-five. Can they steal it? The Late Models might be the biggest toss-up of all of the NASCAR Saturday divisions, with Vinnie Arrenegado, Gerry DeGasparre, Richie Murray and Chase Belcher set to battle it out. Arrenegado won early in the season but has struggled of late, while Belcher is coming off a victory last time on the track. Richie Murray won on opening day and has consistently been around the top-five, and DeGasparre is one of few drivers who has two victories this season. Who will come out on top in their 45-lap main event? Finally, Chad Baxter has to be the favorite in the final four of the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman, but Craig Pianka, Ed Perry and Doug Benoit are right there on his back. Baxter has three wins in the last four races, while Pianka and Perry have been consistent to run inside the top-10 lately. For both Pianka and Perry, who won early in the season, winning success hasn’t been tasted recently, but this could be a great return to the top. Benoit, a former Pure Stock champion on Fast Friday, has shown speed all year — but could really cement his season with a Triple Crown title on Saturday in the 35-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway is preparing for a full weekend of racing this Friday and Saturday, August 5-6, as Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Finale weekend rolls onto the track.
On Fast Friday, all five divisions have a final four of drivers ready to battle for the 2022 Triple Crown — and only one driver in each will leave with the it. In order to win, drivers will simply have to beat the other three on the track. The highest finishing of the four in their respective division will be the 2022 Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown champion. All races on Fast Friday except the two in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions will be five extra laps. This means the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series race will be set for 30 laps, with AJ Manuel, Mikey LeFort, Jarrod Freitas and Tyler Duhancik battling for the crown. In the first two races of the Triple Crown chase, Manuel started at the tail of the field, found his way through the pack and rolled to Victory Lane. Can a three-peat of wins come at the perfect time to earn him the Triple Crown in his farewell race? LeFort, a former multiple-time champion, could be one of the major threats to stand in his way, as a proven winner. Freitas and Duhancik both have wins during the 2022 season and have shown top-five speed on a weekly basis. In the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, Greg Perry, Danny Massa, Tim Ouellette and Sam Lincoln will race for the title. Perry and Massa have already won races in 2022, with Perry capturing two wins, and Massa earning one of his own, and currently leading the point standings. Lincoln, who is riding momentum off a podium run last week, will look to seal his first Triple Crown title in fine fashion. Ouellette has been quiet this season, but could find the perfect time to spark in Friday’s 30-lap feature. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits chase will come down to Milania Shilosky, Darren Krantz, Ryan Vanasse Jr. and Nick Uhrig Jr. The first three of those names each have multiple wins during the season — with Vanasse capturing his second checkered flag just last week. Uhrig has a podium finish just a few races ago and would love to have his career breakthrough moment in their 15-lap feature. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws, Chase Silvia, Andrew Gomes, Joey LeMay and Bradley Strickland will race for the Triple Crown. Three of them have won this year — including first-time wins for Strickland and Gomes in the last two weeks. Silvia has been to Victory Lane in six of the nine races this season, while LeMay has been quiet, but pointed his way into the finale and should be considered a threat to win. And in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, the four drivers set to battle include Brendon Hammann, Devin Deshaies, Mason Tessier and Reese Bogue. Hammann won early in the year and has been on the podium since, but seems to have cooled off a bit heading for the end of the summer. Will this be a rebound race to steer him back on track? Deshaies is a similar story, winning early and slowing down, but has been a master of consistency with top-five finishes in most events. Tessier has two wins in the last four events, while Bogue has been quiet, but would love to use the Triple Crown title to bolster his resume.
