SEEKONK, Mass. — The Sunoco Drive For The Cup returns to Seekonk Speedway in September, as the four-week battle will crown champions across both Fast Friday & NASCAR Saturday. There are six playoff spots on the line in all nine of Seekonk’s divisions, with just three scheduled weekends of racing remaining before the fields are set.
Fast Friday events will take place on August 8, 15 and 22. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Pure Stocks, Sport 4s, Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws will all compete in extra-distance racing on the 8th, for the finale of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series.
Remember, the leader of the championship standings at the end of August 22 will earn three playoff points. So, not only are there battles for the final spot, but the other battle to watch is who will capture those bonus points.
The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars battle includes six drivers currently in, but the defending champion trying to crawl his way back in. Jacob Burns has won four times and leads by 20 points over Josh Parsons. In third, season winner Chase Silvia is 42 points back, with Brenden LaBelle 44 points behind the lead. Mason Tessier is fifth, with Ryan Vanasse Jr. in the sixth and final spot right now.
Just on the outside, defending champion Richie Helger Jr is six points behind Vanasse for the final spot. He’s joined by Jake Silvia, Brody Wakefield, and Dylan Calabro to finish the top-10. The Legends Cars will run 30 laps the next two events - August 8 in the Everett’s Triple Crown finale and August 15 in the Nick Lascuola Racing $2,000 to win Summer Showdown. Then, on August 22, they will run a normal 25-lap race to set the field. Will Helger, Silvia, Wakefield or Calabro find their way in? If so, who gets knocked out?
Can Burns hang on over Parsons for the three bonus points?

The racing for the final spot in the Pure Stock championship battle is going to get hotter and hotter the more weeks that draw by. With three remaining until the field is set, a look around the cutline sees multiple impressive names on the outside looking in.
Brent Robidoux, the defending champion, leads the division by 32 points. Ethan Souza is second, with Mike Henriques 10 points behind Souza in third, followed by Matthew Talbot and Zachary Keith fourth and fifth, just 10 points behind Henriques. Former champion Jared Cordeira, who won in the debut year of the Sunoco Drive For the Cup, currently holds the final playoff spot with 272 points.

On the outside looking in is one Keith’s fellow Rookie of the Year contenders and two-time Sport 4 champion Crystal Murray. She is 20 points back, looking to crawl her way in before the field is set. Peter Bleau, always a fast contender, is 24 points from the final spot. A massive mechanical failure pushed Danny Massa back to 8th, now 36 points back from playoff contention.

Five of the top-six contenders who are looking to race for the Sport 4 championship battle are all looking up at Richie Johnson. The most consistent driver this season, Johnson looks to be capturing the three bonus points as the regular season title holder, and is in the best position to go forward and chase his first career championship. Behind him, there are a lot of hungry drivers.
Without a feature win so far, Jacob Budzyna is second in points comfortably. The rising driver will look to visit Victory Lane before the playoffs start to add to his confidence. Arthur Meack is third, with Daniel Hayes, Christine Cavallaro and Samantha Sleboda right now holding the six playoff positions. Sleboda and Hannah Arsenault are tied for the final spot with 216 points, with the tiebreaker going to Sleboda due to her feature win.
It appears these seven drivers will battle it out for the six spots. Can Arsenault out run one of them over the stretch run in the final three weeks before the Sunoco Drive For The Cup? Time will tell.

The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws has proven that there are many, many drivers who will have a shot at winning the championship in 2025. Through the first seven races of the season, there have been seven different winners. All but two of them are currently inside the top-six championship chase with a few weeks left.
Jordan Duquette leads Allyha DeSomma by two points, with Mason Silva just six off the lead. All three of those drivers scored their first career win this season. Joining them are Vincent Sarro and David Bernier in fourth and fifth, also first-time winners in 2025. In the sixth and final playoff spot right now is Ryder Aguiar, who is tied with Bernier for fifth.
Behind the final spot, Brady Connors is the first car outside looking in. Connors is 28 points out, with Nathan Zimmerman 30 points back. These two will have some work to do if they want to find their way into the Sunoco Drive For The Cup.
The other two season winners, Luka Dib and Mike Hanafin, will need what seems like a miracle to make their way in.
