BURNS ROCKETS TO WIN USING OUTSIDE LANE IN LATE MODEL RETURN

SEEKONK, Mass. — The outside groove was the name of the game for Jacob “Rowdy” Burns on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. Before he scored his first career Pro Stock win, Burns took down the victory in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series Late Model 30-lap main event.

Burns, who missed the opening day Late Model race focusing on his Pro Stock, charged from the middle of the pack to the front, and caught leader Charlie Rose inside of 10 laps remaining.

At the time, it was clear Burns was the faster car - but getting around can be a different story. Burns drove to the top side of the track, drew even with Rose after a few laps, and eventually made the pass with only a couple of laps to go. From there, he drove off into the sunset. After winning countless Late Model races last year, Burns made his return in a big way in week two.

Rose settled for second, one week after having mechanical trouble while in the lead on opening day. Defending Late Model Rookie of the Year Andrew Gomes finished third, with Chase Belcher charging from the middle of the pack to fourth, and Ryan Souliere rounding out the top-five.

Connor Souza was sixth, followed by Josh Hedges, Mark Jenison, opening day winner Luke LeBrun and David Lougee.

The Late Models will be back on the track on Saturday, May 17 at 6PM for another 30 lap main event. For all of the latest Seekonk Speedway news, follow the track on social media. For the most up to date information and ticket sales, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com.
