SEEKONK, Mass. — It was a long time coming, but Andrew Gomes finally made his way to the winner’s circle in a Late Model on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway.
Gomes held off a furious charge from Connor Souza and Jacob Burns in the final laps to finally park in Victory Lane for the first time in his Late Model career.
As a graduate of Seekonk’s youth racing association, Gomes has been competing weekly in both the Late Models and Pro Stocks.
Burns edged Souza for second, with Souza following through in third after 30 laps.
Mark Jenison and Chase Belcher finished fourth and fifth. They were followed by Tyler Lallier, David Lougee, Charlie Rose, Josh Hedges and Bill Goodrow.
Special thanks to Fleet maintenance for sponsoring this event.
The Late Models will be back on track for the first race of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup on Saturday, September 6. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
