SEEKONK, Mass. — In a thriller of a show, Ryan Vanasse Jr. picked up his first career Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars win on Friday night at Seekonk Speedway. In the Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown, worth a whopping $2,000 to win, Vanasse had trouble early, stopping in turn two in the midst of an accident. He went into the pit area, rejoined the race, and charged through the pack.
While Chase Silvia, Jacob Burns and Josh Parsons raced for the win, Vanasse closed in on them, worked the outside lane, and was three-wide around the top to take the feature win. His first career checkered flag came in the biggest race of the season for Seekonk’s top Fast Friday division, as the part-time Late Model and full-time Legends Cars driver was celebrating.
Parsons finished second, just a mere few inches behind Vanasse in a photo finish. Silvia, who led many laps, settled for third. Jacob Burns and Isaiah Newcomb followed in fourth and fifth.
Richie Helger Jr., Zach Martinez, Brandon Martinez, Brenden LaBelle and Brian Wilkinson Jr. finished the top-10.
The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will return to the track on Friday, August 22 for the final race of the regular season. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, and tickets to upcoming events, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and also follow the track on social media.
