SEEKONK, Mass. — Richie Johnson had arguably the best season of anyone in the Sport 4 class at Seekonk Speedway last year.
Starting 2025, Johnson’s goal was simple -- grab a race win.
He did that right away, capturing the checkered flag at the front of the field in the first 25-lap event of the season.
Johnson made a late move to get the lead from former champion Dave Westgate, and held him off over the final two-lap dash to the finish to take down the first victory of the year for the Sport 4 division. Westgate, who led many of the laps, was right behind at the finish, capturing second-place to open the year.
Matt Pion finished third, followed by Jacob Budznya and Henry Lavallee.
The Sport 4’s will be back on the track on Friday, June 6, for another main event. Their second race of the season is set for 25 laps. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
