THIBEAULT DRIVES AWAY TO GET BACK TO SPORT TRUCK VICTORY LANE
DJ Thibeault used a smooth few moves and a fast Sport Truck to rocket back into Victory Lane at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night.
The Story: The Sport Trucks were the final feature of the night, a bit different than normal for the competitors. It was Thibeault who jumped out front rather early, getting away from the competition and pouncing on opportunity to get back to the winner's circle. Over the final half of the race, Thibeault would drive away to win by over one second.
The Top Finishers: Scott Cestodio was back on the podium with a strong second-place finish, while defending champion Jake Vanada followed up in third. Danny Thibeault joined his son in the top-five, finishing fourth, with Mike Cavallaro finishing the top-five.
NICK BRIGHTMAN FINDS SPORTSMAN VICTORY LANE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Nick Brightman had been trying to win a Sportsman race at Seekonk Speedway for a while, and had come close before. Saturday night, it all worked out for him to finally capture that checkered flag.
The Story: In a Sportsman race that was exciting throughout, Brightman got to the lead impressively on a restart just after halfway. From there, he drove away from his challengers and was able to pick up the trophy for the first time on NASCAR Saturday.
The Top Finishers: Doug Benoit finished second, while Adam Giacomozzi had a strong run in third after 25 laps. Matthew Talbot crossed the line fourth, but did not make it through post-race inspection. Nick Wood was credited with fourth, while Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia rounded out the top-five.
GOMES HOLDS ON TO WIN LATE MODEL TRIPLE CROWN ROUND ONE
Andrew Gomes, one of Seekonk Speedway’s rising stars, came out on top of a battle that had fans engaged right to the finish in the first round of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series for the Late Models on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway.
The Story: Gomes jumped out to the lead and looked to be clear sailing, but it wasn’t long before Luke Lebrun, the 2024 division champion, worked his way through the pack and started to challenge for the top spot. Lebrun worked the inside of Gomes for a while, then Gomes changed lanes and the two raced to the line, with Gomes coming out on top.
The Top Finishers: A post-race penalty applied to Lebrun moved Charlie Rose into second and Chase Belcher behind him in third. Lebrun finished fourth in the final tally, with Ryan Vanasse Jr rounding out the top-five after 45 laps of Everett’s Triple Crown Series racing.
The Late Models will be back on the track for 30 laps of action on Saturday, June 20.
ESTRELLA POCKETS THE PAYDAY IN AMERICAN RACER PRO STOCK 75
With a $2,500 winners share on the line, the American Racer Pro Stock 75 came right down to the wire on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. It was track champions Dylan Estrella and David Darling passing the lead back and forth in the second half of the race, with Estrella coming out on top at the checkered flag.
The Story: The top story going into the night was Darling trying to score his 100th career win. And with around 40 laps to go, it looked like this was going to be the night. Darling took the top spot from Estrella, but a caution bunched the field back up and the race for the lead was on over the last 25 laps. Estrella, using the outside lane to his advantage, never gave up, and Darling ran him with respect. Estrella beat him to the finish line, with Darling coming home a strong second, and Nick Lascuola behind them in third.
Vinnie Arrenegado and Colbey Fournier finished off the top-five. Seekonk Speedway sends thanks to American Racer for their continued support of the track, and the added incentive for teams in the American Racer 75.
