McKennedy Steals the Show During Wild NASCAR Saturday at Seekonk Speedway

Saturday night racing at Seekonk Speedway delivered everything race fans could ask for—late-race passes, first-time winners, comeback victories and plenty of three-wide action. The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series headlined the night with a thrilling finish, while the Late Models, Sportsman and Sport Trucks added even more excitement to a packed night at the Action Track of the East.

McKennedy Charges Late to Win Monaco Modified Thriller

For most of the Monaco Modified feature, it looked like the victory would belong to either Ron Silk or Stephen Kopcik. The two Modified standouts battled hard at the front while Brett Meservey remained in the mix.

Then Jon McKennedy arrived.

After spending much of the race near the back of the pack, McKennedy turned up the pressure when it mattered most. The driver of the No. 79 charged through the field, passing Meservey, Silk and Kopcik during a spectacular late-race run to take command and drive into Victory Lane.

It marked McKennedy’s second Modified victory of the season at Seekonk. He also captured the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour J&R Precast 150 earlier this year.

Kopcik finished second, followed by Silk, Meservey and Ronnie Williams.

Teague Finally Breaks Through in the Sport Trucks

After coming close multiple times, Colton Teague can finally call himself a Seekonk Speedway Sport Truck winner!

Teague put together a strong performance in the No. 51 and delivered when the pressure was at its highest. A late restart placed some of the division’s toughest competitors right behind him, but Teague refused to give up the top spot.

While Teague raced to the checkered flag, the battle for second turned into a three-wide showdown between Scott Cestodio, Richie Helger Jr. and Jake Vanada. They finished in that order, with Ethan Heilborn completing the top five.

It was a hard-earned and well-deserved first career victory for Teague.

“Rowdy” Burns Wins in Late Model Season Debut

Jacob “Rowdy” Burns certainly knows how to make an entrance.

Burns has competed part-time in the Pro Stocks this season while racing full-time in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars on Fast Friday. On Saturday, he climbed behind the wheel of the team Late Model for the first time this season—and drove it straight to Victory Lane.

Starting ninth, Burns steadily worked his way toward the front before setting his sights on leader Luke Lebrun. A late caution gave Burns the opportunity he needed, and he quickly took over the top spot on the restart.

Lebrun received one more chance to battle back, but Burns held him off to secure the victory. Richie Murray came out ahead of a close battle with Charlie Rose to finish third. Rose earned his best finish in recent weeks with a fourth-place run, while recent winner Chase Belcher rounded out the top five.

The Late Models return on Saturday, August 22, for their final race before the Sunoco Drive For The Cup begins.

Serydynski Survives Wild Sportsman Finale

Scott Serydynski Jr.’s season has featured plenty of ups and downs, but Saturday night ended on a major high.

Starting from the middle of the field, Serydynski worked his way forward throughout the 25-lap Sportsman feature. By the closing stages, the driver of the No. 22 had taken command and was busy holding off a hungry group of challengers.

Serydynski stayed out front and captured the victory, while former Seekonk Youth Racing Association standout Nathan Rioux earned a career-best second-place finish. Matthew Talbot finished third, followed by Randy Moretti and Jaime Robbins.

From McKennedy’s incredible late charge to Teague’s emotional first victory, Burns’ winning season debut and Serydynski’s return to Victory Lane, NASCAR Saturday provided another unforgettable night of racing at Seekonk Speedway.
