SEEKONK, Mass. — Daniel Hayes captured his second career win in the opener of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup at Seekonk Speedway on Friday night. Hayes won the 25-lap Sport 4 feature, giving himself a strong six playoff points after the first of three weeks before the Final Four is set.

Hayes jumped out from the outside pole, and although he led most of the race, it wasn’t easy. Richie Johnson tried the outside of Hayes for many laps, while Arthur Meack was all over his back bumper. In the end, it was Johnson in second and Meack in third after 25 circuits.

AJ Manuel charged from starting last to finish fourth, while Samantha Sleboda rounded out the top-five. Jacob Budzyna, Christine Cavallaro, Matt Smith, Nate Harris and Joe Mello finished the top-10.

After one playoff race, with the three bonus points from the regular season, Richie Johnson leads the playoff standings with eight points, followed by Hayes with six, Meack with four and Sleboda with three. Just outside the cutline is Budzyna with two and Cavallaro with one.

The Sport 4s will be back on track on Friday, September 12, for the second round of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
