SPORT 4: WITH LAST TWO CHAMPIONS MOVING ON, SPORT 4 FIELD LIKELY TO CROWN NEW TITLE HOLDER IN 2025

Updated: 3 days ago

SEEKONK, Mass. – With Justin Leduc moving up to the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, and Crystal Murray to the Helger’s Pure Stocks, the last three years of Sport 4 champions are moving up for 2025.

That leaves the entire Sport 4 roster to hold just one former champion in it (Dave Westgate), meaning it’s likely this division will have a first-time champion in 2025.

The favorites in the division still appear clear, based on who was successful last year.

Some names to watch include Richie Johnson, Westgate, Henry Lavallee, Matt Pion, Tyler Duhancik, the LeFort family and Taylor Bowser.

Definitely the most consistent car last year, Johnson had a successful campaign in the No. 8. He will roll into a new season looking to win often and be there at the end to contend for his first title. Johnson is one of many Thrill Show graduates who have gone racing on Fast Friday.

Lavallee joins Westgate as likely the two most veteran drivers of the division. Both of them have been around for many years, and both have won. Westgate shared a ride with Arthur Meack last year, and both of them won in it. Lavallee enters the new campaign looking to shake off a season that was filled with some misfortune in 2024. Both will be threats to win.

Matt Pion captured multiple wins last year, and returns for 2025 with a new ride, one that Pro Stock driver Kevin Casper helped prepare. Duhancik has won multiple times in his career and enters a new year looking to take it to the next level and contend for a championship.

The LeFort family, both Mikey LeFort Jr. and Mikey LeFort III, also return for another season. LeFort III is assured to run the full schedule, but will LeFort Jr. find himself out there weekly, or just from time to time?

Bowser has put together a few strong seasons, consistent enough to get herself into the playoffs. Can she take it to the next level herself and score her first career win in 2025?

Some additional names to watch in the Sport 4 class include Jacob Budzyna, Samantha Sleboda (Mattera), Daniel Hayes, Meack, Nate Harris, Christine Cavallaro and a new Arsenault going racing -- Hannah.

The Arsenault name has been successful with Robert “Sparky” Arsenault winning Sportsman titles, while Amy Arsenault (now Helger) competes in the Sport Trucks and is a former Pure Stock and Truck winner.

The Sport 4 class continues to showcase the rising stars of Fast Friday, offering one of the most affordable ways to get into short-track racing.

The Sport 4 season begins at Seekonk Speedway on Friday, May 30 at 7 p.m. For more information on Seekonk Speedway and to purchase tickets for all events, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com.
