Long known for his success in Seekonk Speedway’s Thrill Show events, Richie Johnson has been tearing the track up on Fast Friday the last two seasons. This year, Johnson did it again in the Sport 4 division - capturing the championship in the Sunoco Drive For The Cup, his first career track title in the No. 8.
Johnson picked up the final two wins of the season in the Sport 4 class, two of his five total for the season. Johnson opened the year with two straight wins and never left the podium all year except for one race, with his worst finish being fourth. Johnson won five times and finished second seven times in the 14-race season.
“I couldn’t have done it without my girlfriend, she’s the one that pushed me to get this car and try like hell,” Johnson said. “I’m pretty tough on myself, I want to win everything I can. The first two years in the Sport 4, not winning the championship, was tough. I couldn’t even tell you how nervous I was all year. I just wanted this championship so bad. I grew up as a little kid here, dreaming of being one of the drivers out here, and to come out and compete and win a championship.. I would have never dreamed of it.”
Seekonk Speedway congratulates Richie Johnson and his entire team on capturing the 2025 Sport 4 division championship.
