Sunoco Drive for the Cup NASCAR Saturday Recap
SEEKONK, Mass. — The Sunoco Drive for the Cup rolled through another dramatic Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway, delivering two early championship celebrations and setting up a pair of must-see title showdowns.
Randy Moretti and Chase Belcher officially secured championships in the Sportsman and Late Models, while the Pro Stock and Sport Truck titles will come down to the final night of the 2026 season on Saturday, September 26.
Darling Returns to Victory Lane, Setting Up Title Showdown with Lascuola
Dave Darling returned to Pro Stock Victory Lane Saturday night, holding off red-hot Nick Lascuola to capture the 45-lap feature.
Darling earned the win, but Lascuola stayed right with him and crossed the line in second. The result sets up a championship showdown between the two drivers during the season finale.
Lascuola will enter the final race with a two-point advantage over Darling in the playoff standings. He is looking to join the select group of competitors who have climbed from Seekonk Speedway’s youth racing divisions all the way to a Pro Stock championship. Darling, a nine-time track champion, will be looking to add another title to his historic résumé.
Vinnie Arrenegado finished third Saturday night, followed by Dylan Estrella and Kenny Spencer.
The Pro Stocks return on Saturday, September 26, with the championship hanging in the balance.
Moretti Awarded Sportsman Victory and Clinches First Championship
The 30-lap Sportsman feature came down to the final few feet—and ultimately, post-race inspection.
Scott Serydynski Jr. and Randy Moretti charged from deep in the field and battled side-by-side to the checkered flag, with Serydynski narrowly crossing the line first. However, the official results changed after Serydynski did not clear post-race inspection, awarding the victory to Moretti.
The win gave Moretti enough playoff points to clinch his first career Seekonk Speedway Sportsman championship one week early.
Nick Wood was officially credited with second place, followed by Josh Hedges in third. Nathan Rioux also did not clear inspection, moving Doug Benoit into fourth and Daniel Leach into the fifth position.
The Sportsman division will return for its final race of the season on Saturday, September 26, with Moretti preparing to celebrate his championship.
Belcher Stays Hot and Locks Up Late Model Crown
Chase Belcher picked the perfect time of the season to get hot.
Belcher raced from the middle of the field during Saturday night’s 35-lap Late Model feature and worked his way into a battle for the lead with Manny Dias. After moving around the No. 42 and taking control of the race, Belcher pulled away from the competition to score another impressive victory.
The win also gave Belcher enough playoff points to clinch the 2026 Late Model championship one week before the season finale.
Dias finished second, while Mark Jenison crossed the line third. Brenden LaBelle and Richie Murray completed the top five.
Belcher and the Late Models will return to the track one final time this season on Saturday, September 26.
Bolger Returns to Sport Truck Victory Lane as Championship Battle Tightens
Tim Bolger Jr. may not be competing for the championship, but he made sure the spotlight belonged to him Saturday night.
Once Bolger took the lead away from Mike Cavallaro, he drove away from the field and dominated the remainder of the 30-lap Sport Truck feature. The victory was Bolger’s second of the season.
Behind him, the championship contenders continued their battle for every available position. Scott Cestodio was the highest-finishing playoff driver in second, with Richie Helger Jr. finishing third. Ethan Heilborn placed sixth, while Jake Vanada finished ninth.
The Sport Truck championship remains a four-driver fight heading into the final week, with Helger holding the playoff lead over Cestodio, Heilborn and Vanada.
Bolger led Cestodio, Helger, Cavallaro and DJ Thibeault across the finish line.
Sport Truck results remain unofficial pending completed inspection.
Championship Night Is Next
Only one week remains in Seekonk Speedway’s 2026 NASCAR racing season.
Randy Moretti and Chase Belcher have officially secured their championships, but the Pro Stock and Sport Truck titles are still up for grabs. Nick Lascuola and Dave Darling are separated by only two points in the Pro Stocks, while all four Sport Truck finalists remain in contention.
It all comes down to the season finale on Saturday, September 26, at the Action Track of the East.
