SEEKONK, Mass. — Nick Wood was back on top in the Seekonk Speedway Sportsman on Saturday night in the 25-lap contest.
The Story: Wood started fifth in the field in the final race of the night, and quickly worked his way up to the front. He had to pass Josh Gerard for the lead, and once he did that, it was clear Wood was not going to be denied. The driver of the No. 27 rolled to the victory, his second career, showing he is going to be a threat all year in the NASCAR Local Racing Series division.
The Top Finishers: After winning last time out, Adam Pettey charged through the pack yet again and finished a strong second after 25 laps in a part-time effort. Opening day winner Randy Moretti was back on the podium for the third straight week, coming home in the third spot. They were followed to the line by Sam Lincoln and Doug Benoit, who finished the top-five.
The Sportsman will be back on the track for another 25-lap showdown on Saturday, June 13. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, and tickets to all upcoming events, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com.
