MID WEEK MADNESS BRINGS NASCAR MODS, GRANITE STATE PRO STOCKS, BIG MONEY LEGENDS CARS BATTLE TO SEEKONK SPEEDWAY JULY 1

SEEKONK, Mass. — The Action Track of the East is set to roar to life with the only mid-week event of the 2026 season - Mid Week Madness - on Wednesday, July 1. The stars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour headline the night with the running of the Firecracker 150 presented by Bethesda Leadership Group, alongside the Granite State Pro Stock Series 100-lap contest. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, one of Seekonk Speedway’s Fast Friday divisions, will also hit the track for a championship points race - set for $2,000 to win and 35-laps - the annual Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown.

Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and 6:30 p.m. for the other two divisions. The green flag for feature event racing is set for 7 p.m. 

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour storms to Seekonk for the second time this season with a tight battle on top of their championship standings. Through six events, two-time season winner Stephen Kopcik holds a small eight point edge on defending champion Austin Beers. Jon McKennedy, who won the J&R Precast 150 at Seekonk in May, is third, just nine points out of the lead. Patrick Emerling, driver of the USNEPower No. 1, is fourth, just 12 points back. Those four contenders have run away from the competition and bring their battle to Seekonk Speedway for 150 laps this Wednesday.

Kopcik led 81 laps in May, more than half the race, and brought it home second to McKennedy. Beers charged through the field in the second half of the event and finished fourth. Emerling was sixth. McKennedy has won two of the last three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races between Seekonk and Oxford Plains, and has been on a tear in general across many Modified divisions. 

Other names to watch going into Wednesday’s Modified special include Matt Hirschman, a three-time Tour winner at Seekonk, who had won the last three races prior to May’s stop at the Action Track of the East, where he uncharacteristically finished 20th. Keep your eyes on Tyler Rypkema, Eric Goodale, Tommy Catalano, Trevor Catalano, Teddy Hodgdon, Mike Christopher Jr and many more. 

The Granite State Pro Stock Series has a strong field of cars set for battle in their own 100-lap contest - mixing some of the touring series regulars with Seekonk Speedway locals. Leading the charge for the GSPSS into town will be Evan Beaulieu, Casey Call, Joey Pole, Eddie MacDonald and Jeremy Sorel. After a few events this year, Sorel leads the championship standings over Matt Beers, DJ Shaw, Beaulieu and Jamie Wright.

On the Seekonk front, fans can keep their eyes on nine-time champion David Darling, former Seekonk Pro Stock champion Angelo Belsito, former Legends Cars champion and Pro Stock and Late Model winner Jacob Burns, 2024 Pro Stock champion Dylan Estrella, Kevin Casper, Jaden Hamilton, Bobby Pelland III and others. 

The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will battle for 35 laps in the $2,000 to win Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown. This event last year went right down to the wire, with Ryan Vanasse Jr. storming up the outside lane to come out on top of a four-car battle that went right down to the final few feet to determine the winner. Early in the Fast Friday season, Jacob Burns has been hot, winning nearly all of the races. But names like Mason Tessier, Richie Helger Jr., Brody Wakefield, Isaiah Newcomb and many more have shown speed. You can’t forget about reigning division champion Josh Parsons, Vanasse, Late Model Rookie of the Year contender Brenden LaBelle, Chase Silvia, Brian Wilkinson Jr., Dylan Calabro and many more. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars field is also expected to attract some outside interest for this special event. 

Qualifying for the Wednesday night Mid Week Madness begins at 6 p.m. with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour time trials, followed by heat racing for the Legends Cars, and time trials for the Granite State Pro Stock Series. The feature events will follow - with the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars up first, followed by the Pro Stocks and the night concluding with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Firecracker 150 presented by Bethesda Leadership Group.
