SEEKONK, Mass. — Announced earlier in the offseason, Seekonk Speedway has introduced the One Way Recycling Crown Vic Cruisers as a weekly racing division on Fast Friday in 2026.
Originally, the division was not set to race for championship points in the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. After listening to the race teams and fans, track officials have decided to make it a championship eligible class. The Crown Vic Cruisers will race for points all year and crown a champion on the final night.
“Our race teams who are preparing to compete want to race for the glory of a championship, and we’re going to give that to them,” David Alburn, Competition Director at Seekonk Speedway, said. “The One Way Recycling Crown Vic Cruisers got off to a great start in 2025 with our Thrill Show fans & we’re really pumped up to see them on Fast Friday in 2026.”
Seekonk Speedway’s 81st season of racing officially kicks off on May 3, with four NASCAR divisions. The opener of the Fast Friday season is set for May 29.
We did also allow spring rubbers. Both these items have been added to these updated rules.

Exciting addition with the Crown Vic Cruisers! ragdoll playground It will be interesting to see how this impacts racer dynamics and fan engagement at Seekonk. Racing communities thrive on innovation like this!
Love the move to let the Crown Vic Cruisers chase Sunoco Drive For The Cup points—if you’re showing up weekly, it should count for something. And getting the updated rules out early (and noting the spring rubbers) should save a lot of arguments in the pits later. The “small shift that changes everything” reminds me of a caesar cipher—one little adjustment and the whole outcome looks different.
Glad they reversed course and made the Crown Vics championship-eligible—points racing just gives the whole season a storyline, not just the final feature. Curious what the fields will look like once teams realize there’s a title to chase. The way they’re hyping the vibe for Fast Friday weirdly made me think of ghibli ai—same idea of taking something familiar and putting a different spin on it.
