The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was back in town on Wednesday night for their second and final stop of the season at the Action Track of the East. Presented by the Bethesda Leadership Group, the Tour competed in the Firecracker 150 - and it was a familiar name on top after the checkered flag went in the air.
Matt Hirschman captured his fourth win in the last five Tour races at Seekonk, passing Stephen Kopcik on a restart inside the last 60 laps and driving away to capture another victory. Hirschman struggled when the Tour was at Seekonk in May, but rebounded in a big way this time around.
The race went green long at the start, setting up tire conservation to impact the finish - something Hirschman has mastered.
“We put it together tonight. I don’t know how; maybe we got lucky,” Hirschman said. “Here we are in Victory Lane. We’re going to enjoy this with the team. All these teams work hard, but I’m glad I could get a morale boost here for these guys.”
Chase Dowling raced through the field after pitting late to finish second. Patrick Emerling was third, followed by series points leader Stephen Kopcik and Austin Beers.
