SEEKONK, Mass. — In a fitting end to the Late Model 80th Anniversary Series special, veteran contender Charlie Rose was carrying the checkered flag on Saturday night. Rose jumped out front around halfway when he passed Richie Murray for the top spot, then left the field in the sunset behind him. It was the second win of the season for the driver of the No. 91.
The race was part of the NASCAR Saturday Anniversary Series celebrating the 80th season of short-track racing at the Massachusetts oval. Twenty-three cars started the extra-distance event.
Luke LeBrun battled hard to the finish, as the multiple-time season winner made a late move to grab the second spot. Murray, who led many laps, was back on the podium with a solid third. Ryan Kuhn made his weekly Late Model debut for the season finishing fourth, while Andrew Gomes completed the top-five.
Tyler Lallier, Bobby Pelland III, Chase Belcher, Connor Souza and Josh Hedges finished the top-10.
The Late Models will be back on the track on Saturday, July 19, for another main event. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
