RANDY MORETTI ROLLS TO SPORTSMAN WIN IN DOMINANT FASHION

When you looked at the lap charts throughout opening day in the Sportsman, Randy Moretti appeared to be the clear favorite. When the opening 25-lap race of the season concluded, it was Moretti winning the NASCAR Local Racing Series Sportsman bout. It was the first career Sportsman win for Moretti in a Seekonk, local, weekly event.

The Move of the Race: Josh Hedges passed Nick Brightman for the lead using the outside lane on lap 11. He led the following eight laps, battling with Brightman side-by-side for many of them. Moretti passed Brightman, then charged up and made the move by Hedges for the lead on lap 20, and never looked back.

The Story: The Sportsman division is filled with new contenders and a shake-up at the front of the pack in 2026, with two-time and reining champion Adam Pettey and some other top contenders moving on. Moretti, Hedges and Brightman should be some drivers fans can expect up front often in 2026.

The Top Contenders: Scott Serydynski Jr. and Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia were fourth and fifth, battling hard to the finish

The Top-10: Randy Moretti, Josh Hedges, Nick Brightman, Scott Serydynski Jr., Jimmy Silvia, Doug Benoit, Adam Giacomozzi, Al Clements, Matthew Talbot and Nick Wood

Look Out For Next Week: The Sportsman will be back on track for 25 fast laps on May 9 at 6 p.m.

I trained myself to remain calm even when reaching new records in Geometry Dash. That composure helped me secure completions.
