SEEKONK, Mass. — The NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites made their first and only appearance of the season to Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night, rocketing to the track for the annual Boston Louie Seymour Memorial Classic races.
The NEMA Lites were set for 50 laps, while the NEMA Midgets were ready to charge for 29 circuits around the Action Track of the East.
In the end, it was Zach Martinez and Avery Stoehr taking down feature wins.
Martinez grabbed the lead in the NEMA Lite main event and may have used some of his Seekonk experience to help him out. As a regular runner on Fast Friday in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Martinez took the lead and drove away from the field to win by just under one second over Kyle Valeri. They were followed to the line by Brayden Egan, Ben Mikitarian and PJ Stergios in the NEMA Lite 50. Martinez now has countless NEMA Lite wins as the summer heats up, also winning recently at Thompson Speedway and Monadnock Speedway, while continuing to compete at Seekonk on Friday nights.
In the NEMA Midgets, Avery Stoehr was no stranger to Victory Lane at Seekonk Speedway. Stoehr had control of the 29-lap feature and added yet another win to his resume. John Zych trailed him in second, over two seconds back on the timer, while Joey Bailey, Randy Cabral and Paul Scally finished the top-five.
