Tessier Makes It Two Straight as Fast Friday Playoff Battles Heat Up

SEEKONK, Mass. — The second round of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup delivered dramatic finishes, championship-changing moments and plenty of excitement Friday night at Seekonk Speedway.

Mason Tessier continued his impressive playoff run with a second consecutive victory, while Ethan Souza, Daniel Hayes and Landon Solomito strengthened their championship hopes. Luka Dib captured his remarkable 10th win of the season by inches, and Chase Curtis charged from the rear of the field to earn a thrilling Crown Vic victory.

With only two races remaining, every position—and every point—will matter as Fast Friday’s championship contenders prepare for the next step toward the season finales.

Tessier Makes It Two Straight in Legends Cars

Mason Tessier is quickly establishing himself as a major threat to capture the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars championship.

A major crash on the opening lap shook up the field and involved multiple Sunoco Drive For The Cup contenders. When racing resumed, Brian Wilkinson Jr. appeared poised to take control and potentially earn his second career victory.

Tessier had other plans.

He worked his way through the field, reached Wilkinson’s bumper and completed the pass for the lead. From there, Tessier held off Wilkinson and Richie Helger Jr. over the closing laps to secure his second consecutive playoff victory.

The win allowed Tessier to close the gap even further in the championship standings with only two events remaining.

Wilkinson finished second, followed by Helger in third. David Bernier recorded a strong fourth-place finish, while Brenden LaBelle completed the top five.

Souza Strengthens Pure Stock Championship Lead

Ethan Souza picked the perfect time to earn his second Pure Stock victory of the 2026 season.

Starting from the middle of the pack, Souza steadily worked his way toward the front while Steve Aubin led the opening laps from the pole. Zachary Keith eventually took command and controlled the top spot until Souza chased him down and made the winning move.

Once Souza reached the lead, he pulled away from Keith over the final circuits to secure the victory in the second round of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup.

The win helped Souza extend his championship lead with only two races left to decide the title.

Keith crossed the line second, with Crystal Murray finishing third. Playoff contender Richie Johnson placed fourth, while Aubin completed his best run of the season with a fifth-place finish.

Chase Curtis Charges From the Rear to Win Crown Vic Feature

Chase Curtis arrived from out of state, started from the final row and had no practice laps—but none of that stopped him from storming to Victory Lane in the One Way Recycling Crown Vics.

John Lallier and John Dulac brought the field to the green flag, with Lallier controlling much of the first half of the race from the bottom groove.

Chase and Jared Curtis both worked their way through the field, battling with some of Seekonk’s strongest Crown Vic competitors. Jared’s run ended early after contact sent him into the pit area, but Chase continued his march toward the front.

Once Chase Curtis grabbed the lead, there was no catching him.

Dulac crossed the finish line second, followed by Lallier in third. Multiple-time 2026 winner Mike Cavallaro finished fourth, with Tyrese Mello rounding out the top five.

Dib Wins by Inches for 10th Victory of the Season

The dominance of Luka Dib continued in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws—but his latest victory came down to the final few inches.

Dib, Ryder Aguiar and Mackenzie Cloutier put on a tremendous three-car battle during the second half of the feature. Cloutier led many of the early laps before Aguiar moved alongside her, creating a three-wide fight with Dib charging around the outside.

Cloutier eventually settled into third while Dib and Aguiar raced side-by-side over the closing laps, each looking for the smallest possible advantage.

They remained door-to-door all the way to the checkered flag, where Dib edged Aguiar by just 0.017 seconds.

The incredible finish gave Dib his 10th victory of the season and expanded his championship lead with only two races remaining.

Aguiar finished second, with Cloutier taking third. Allyha DeSomma and McKinley Burrows completed the top five after 15 exciting laps.

Hayes Capitalizes on Late Restart in Sport 4s

Daniel Hayes used a late restart to rocket into the lead and capture the second round of the Sport 4 playoffs.

Hayes started second, but polesitter Antonio Mancini controlled much of the race from the front. The complexion of the event changed with nine laps remaining when championship leader Arthur Meack suffered a frightening fire in turn three, ending his night early.

On the ensuing restart, Hayes powered through the outside groove and took command. He held off every challenge over the final laps to earn his second Sport 4 victory of the season and keep himself firmly in the championship hunt.

Mancini finished second, followed by Samantha Sleboda in third. Jacob Budzyna and Meack completed the top five in the final rundown.

Solomito Rebounds to Expand Bandit Championship Lead

After a difficult opening round of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup, Landon Solomito responded in championship fashion.

Solomito started from the middle of the field and charged through the pack to take the lead in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits feature. Once he reached the front, he had to withstand a determined challenge from Jace Chaber over the closing laps.

The driver of the No. 66 held strong and returned to Victory Lane for the eighth time this season.

The victory allowed Solomito to expand his championship lead as he pursues a second consecutive Bandolero Bandit title.

Chaber finished second, followed by Tobey Lecuyer in third. Brody Solomito and Lance Mortland III rounded out the top five.

Two Races Remain in the Championship Chase

Fast Friday’s championship contenders return to Seekonk Speedway on Friday, September 18, for the third round of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup.
