The 2024 Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series kicks-off this Saturday night at the Action Track of the East. With qualifying racing beginning at 6 p.m., both the Sport Trucks and Pro Stocks will go for extra-distance races in their first of three events inside the Everett’s Triple Crown.
Also on Saturday, the track celebrates all those who currently serve in the military, and all those who have been lost in service, with the annual Military Night at Seekonk Speedway. All Military personnel both past and present who attend the races on Saturday night will receive complimentary admission in the grandstands. Qualifying races begin at 6 p.m. and feature action will follow at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online today at SeekonkSpeedway.com. In the two highlight races of the night, the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will run 35 laps and the Pro Stocks will ned the night with 60 circuits. The Late Models are also back for race two of their season, set for 30 laps, while the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will be on track for 25 laps of their own. In the Sport Trucks, Rick Martin made an early statement on opening night, picking up the victory. As the reigning champion of the division for the last two years, Martin hasn’t lost a step over the winter - but has some stout competition coming behind him. Darryl Church and Mike Duarte showed impressive speed in race one, joining Martin on the podium. Look out for Jake Vanada, Amy Arsenault, DJ Thibeault, Mike Cavallaro and others in their Triple Crown opener. The Pro Stock field chased Colbey Fournier for much of the opening race of the season. Although he won the 40-lap race to kick-off the year, he was closely challenged by Bobby Pelland, Vinnie Arrenegado and others over the distance. Arrenegado, a two-time and defending Seekonk Late Model champion, was impressive in his Pro Stock debut, and what better way for him to break into Victory Lane than the first Triple Crown event? Names like Dick Benoit, Mark Jenison, Dylan Estrella and others are ready to do battle for 60 laps on Saturday night. Richie Murray dominated the second half of the opening race of the Late Model season, besting names like Chase Belcher, Arrenegado and Connor Souza to score the win in race one. He will be back to challenge others to try and make it two in a row - but additional names like Luke Lebrun, Charlie Rose and Mark Jenison will do everything they can to park their own car in Victory Lane after 30 laps. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman division had a wild lap one, and a finish that saw part-time competitor Josh Hedges pick up the win. Former Fast Friday driver Tyler Almeida posted his best career finish in the opener - a second - while Jeremy Lambert made his Sportsman debut worth it, finishing on the podium. Looking to rebound, defending champion Steve Axon and 2023 dominator Adam Petty will both be coming back from the lap one wreck lookin to pounce. NASCAR Saturday grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for advanced ticket holders and 5 p.m. for those who purchase tickets at the track on race day. The pit area opens at 2 p.m. for race teams and practice begins at 4 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets or pit passes online now at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Burns, the defending Fast Friday Legends Cars champion, established his name in the Late Models the last two years. Burns is going to win often, and he’s going to make the playoffs with a shot to add a NASCAR Late Model title to his credit in the No. 30. Two more drivers to watch are Chase Belcher and Connor Souza. Both of these young drivers have proven they can win races. Souza won twice last year, including the season-finale in the No. 38, and is coming back in 2024 looking for more. Belcher, driving the No. 35 for Everett’s Auto Parts, has multiple career wins, and came so close to the championship in 2022. Can either of them challenge to make the head table? Former Sport Truck champion Richie Murray looks to get back to Victory Lane in 2024. He picked up his first career Late Model win on opening day in 2022, and had top-five finishes last season in his No. 08. Luke Lebrun is a former Legends Cars champion and has been to Victory Lane in the Late Models before at Seekonk. Look out for him in his No. 27 to contend for wins and the chase for the title. Another name to add to the list is veteran Charlie Rose, who made the Final Four last year and will surely be a threat on the track. Moving up from the Fast Friday Sport 4 division, Jarrod Freitas will contend for the Rookie of the Year in the Late Models in the No. 47. Moving from Fast Friday himself is former Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero winner Andrew Gomes, who will compete with Freitas for the Rookie of the Year honors, driving the No. 10. The move for both of those drivers shows the continued growth in Seekonk’s Fast Friday program helping drivers eventually make the move to NASCAR Saturday. Brittany Campbell, a multiple-time Sport Truck winner, also will be part of the Rookie of the Year class in her Late Model debut season. Tyler Lallier may not be a Rookie, but the former Sportsman championship contender has plans to return to competition this year in his familiar No. 7. Look out for names like Jerammee Lillie, who always runs near the front. Ryan Souliere is also registered in the No. 4 and Bill Goodrow the No. 32, while Manny Dias has registered the No. 42. Expected to run a partial schedule is former Late Model champion Bobby Pelland III, driving for the Vanasse family. We mentioned it off the top, but look for Arrenegado to contend for wins when he runs. Others to watch include Nathan Tracy, Dennis Stampfl and more. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Late Models on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Pro Stocks will be Saturday, September 28. The Late Models will also have the opportunity to race with the American Canadian Tour in non-Seekonk points events on June 8 and November 2. For more information on the 2024 Late Model season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news.
