SEEKONK, Mass. — Nick Wood found himself in Victory Lane for the first time in his Seekonk Speedway career on Saturday night. Driving the No. 27, Wood jumped out in front of the field in the 25-lap main event and held off Sunoco Drive For The Cup contenders to end a night he would never forget. Wood scored his first career Helger’s Sportsman win. He was chased to the line by former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion Doug Benoit, who posted the highest finish of all playoff contenders in second, and locked himself into the Final Four based on playoff points as long as he takes the green next week. With a third-place finish, Colby Lambert locked himself into the Final Four in the Helger’s Sportsman championship battle. He was followed by playoff contenders Adam Pettey and Scott Serydynski Jr. in fourth and fifth. Playoff driver Josh Hedges followed in sixth, with Paul Williams, Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Sparky Arsenault and Jay Steely rounding out the top-10. Unofficially, the current Final Four drivers in the Sportsman would be: Lambert (locked in), Benoit (locked in), Serydynski and Pettey.
