SEEKONK, Mass. — Just three Fast Friday events remain before the field is set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup at Seekonk Speedway. All five Fast Friday divisions will compete in three feature events before the field of six is set in each division. Fast Friday battles before the cutoff: August 9, 16 and 23. Remember - the top-six drivers in each division at the end of the August 23 Fast Friday event will advance to the playoffs. Also, don’t forget, the driver who leads the standings at the end of the regular season earns three bonus points towards the playoffs and will automatically lead everyone by three. In the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Jacob Burns holds a 10-point lead over Josh Parsons, with Richie Helger Jr just 18 points back. The top three are close in contention for those bonus points. In fourth, Brenden LaBelle has 320 points, while Chase Silvia is next with 318 and Mason Tessier rounds out the top-six with 314. Tessier leads Rodney Dowless Jr. by 34 points with three weeks to go.
The Helger’s Pure Stock field is also tight. Mike Henriques leads Brent Robidoux by just 14 points for the overall lead and the bonus points, while Ethan Souza and Jared Cordeira ride comfortably in third and fourth. All four of these drivers should advance, barring disaster. In fifth, former champion Greg Perry has 306. He’s followed by Bobby Bettencourt III, who currently holds the final spot by six points over Danny Massa. Most recent winner Tim Ouellette is just 20 points back, with Matt Talbot 28 points.
In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, the field is going to be set. David Bernier leads Mason Silva by just two points for the lead and the bonus points. Luka Dib is only 10 behind the lead. Then, Ayla Martin, Jase Chaber and Carl Satterlund Jr. are the next in line, rounding out the top-six. These will be the six contending for the title. But, the question is: who will get the bonus points? The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws is the closest of all nine Seekonk divisions. Bryson Robidoux leads Parker Davis by eight points at the top, with Nick Uhrig just 14 back and Brody Wakefield in fourth, just 26 points behind. From there, Ryder Aguiar is fifth, 24 points ahead of the cutline. It seems that based on previous results, these five should feel comfortable to advance, as long as they have three solid weeks. For sixth, it’s a tie. Mike Hanafin and Allyha DeSomma are tied for the final playoff spot with 302 points, with Hanafin getting the nod right now, because he has a feature win. Behind them, the battle continues….
The Sport 4 division is also rather tight heading for the stretch. In the race for the bonus points, Matt Pion leads the division by just 12 over Tyler Duhancik and Richie Johnson, who are tied for second spot. Taylor Bowser is comfortably in fourth, with Justin Leduc and two-time and defending champion Crystal Murray fifth and sixth. Murray leads by 22 points over Henry Lavallee, with Daniel Hayes 28 points out and Jacob Budzyna 30 back. You never know what will happen in the final few weeks.
