SEEKONK, Mass. — For the first time in his Helger’s Pure Stock career, Matt Talbot was celebrating with the checkered flag on Friday night at Seekonk Speedway. Talbot jumped out front early in the 25-lap opener of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup and never looked back, holding off playoff contender Ethan Souza to score the feature win. Although Talbot isn’t in the playoffs, the feature win, his first career, will be one he will never forget. Ethan Souza finished second, the first playoff car in the final order. He was followed by Brent Robidoux and Jared Cordeira, two more playoff cars. Josh O’Hara rounded out the top-five. Alice Benoit was sixth, followed by Greg Perry, then two playoff cars - Mike Henriques and Danny Massa. DJ Pires rounded out the top-10. At the end of the first playoff race, Souza, Henriques, Robidoux and Cordeira hold Final Four spots. The Helger’s Pure Stocks will return to the track for round two of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup on Friday, September 13, another 25-lap feature.
