SEEKONK, Mass. — Colby Lambert seems to be the man to beat in the Helger’s Sportsman. Lambert jumped out front and dominated the second half of Saturday’s Sunoco Drive For The Cup opener, rolling to a dominating victory in the first playoff round. With his bonus points as the regular season points leader included, Lambert is well on his way to the Final Four so far. Doug Benoit and Scott Serydynski Jr., two playoff cars, followed in second and third. They were followed by non-playoff cars Nick Wood and Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia in fourth and fifth. Behind them, Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Josh Hedges (playoffs), Corey Fanning, Tyler Almeida (playoffs) and Paul Williams finished out the top-10. After the first round of the playoffs, Lambert, Benoit, Serydynski and Josh Hedges currently hold the Final Four spots. The Helger’s Sportsman will return to the track for round two of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup on Saturday, September 14, another 25-lap feature.
