SEEKONK, Mass. — It’s hard to believe the Fast Friday season is down to the final five events before the field is set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup playoffs. New for 2024, the Sunoco Drive For The Cup playoffs only includes the top-six drivers in each division in the championship standings at the end of August. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Helger’s Pure Stocks, Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws and Sport 4s will all be back on the track on the following dates to set the field: July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16 and August 23. The Bandolero Bandit field is just about set. David Bernier currently leads over Mason Silva, Luka Dib, Ayla Martin, Jase Chaber and Carl Satterlund Jr. These drivers will contend for the championship this season as long as nothing drastic changes in the next four weeks. The Bandolero Outlaw field is a different story. Bryson Robidoux, Brody Wakefield, Nick Uhrig Jr., Parker Davis, Ryder Aguiar and Zacarias Kelley are currently in the six spots. Kelley leads over Mike Hanafin by just 12 points for the final spot with Zachary Keith just 14 points back. It’s Allya DeSomma next in line, just 20 points out of the final spot. Will one of the drivers outside charge in the positions they need over the final few weeks? In the Sport 4 division, Taylor Bowser holds the final position, up by 34 points on Henry Lavallee. Above her, Matt Pion leads the standings over Richie Johnson, Justin Leduc, Tyler Duhancik and Crystal Murray. Unless Lavallee can mount an impressive charge, the Sport 4 battle may be set to go. The Helger’s Pure Stock battle is the tightest of all Seekonk divisions. Mike Henriques, Jared Cordeira, Brent Robidoux, Ethan Souza and Matt Talbot currently round out the top-five. Although it’s only 24 points, Talbot is in a decent spot with five weeks to go. The final car currently in is former champion Greg Perry. He leads by just eight points over Bobby Bettencourt III, while Danny Massa is only 10 points back. It’s Josh O’Hara in ninth, 30 points behind. It appears that the top-eight drivers, ending with Massa, will battle for the six spots. When it comes to the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Richie Helger Jr. leads over Jacob Burns, Brenden LaBelle, Josh Parsons, Mason Tessier and Chase Silvia. Right now, Silvia looks comfortable, leading Kevin Davis Jr. by 30 points and Rodney Dowless by 34 points. Is the Legends Cars field also rather set with five weeks to go? The Fast Friday Series returns to the track on Friday, July 27, with all five divisions on the track beginning at 7 p.m. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest updates.
