SEEKONK, Mass. — The Sunoco Drive For The Cup at Seekonk Speedway is just over one month away. With just four Fast Friday races left before the cutoff for the playoff field to be set, drivers will make one last effort during the month of August to push their way in. Those who are inside are looking to hold on tight to be able to contend for the track championship in 2024. Each division will have six drivers advancing into the playoffs. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, the field is mostly already set. David Bernier, Mason Silva and Luka Dib are all within eight points of each other. All three of them are winners this year, and the only winners in the division. Ayla Martin is fourth, with Jase Chaber in fifth and Carl Satterlund Jr. sixth. Satterlund holds a lead of over 100 points for the final spot, and Kennedy Burrows, who is seventh, doesn’t run full-time. Look for the six drivers currently in to contend for the championship in the Bandits. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws, the gap between six and seventh couldn’t be closer. Up at the top, Bryson Robdioux, Brody Wakeifled, Parker Davis and Nick Uhrig Jr. are rather comfortable. Uhrig is 38 points up on sixth, while Ryder Aguiar in 5th is 28 points up himself. Holding the final spot is Zacarias Kelley, currently just two points ahead of Mike Hanafin. Behind Hanafin, Allah DeSomma is just four points back. Zachary Keith in ninth is only 14 behind. With all of these drivers pushing for just a few spots, the battle is going to go right down to the final laps. Racing in the Sport 4 division this season has been tight. Matt Pion leads by a comfortable 34 points over Richie Johnson, with Justin Leduc and Tyler Duhancik tied for third and fourth. Holding the fifth spot is two-time defending champion Crystal Murray, and she is 20 points ahead of the cutline. Taylor Bowser holds the final playoff spot, with a 30-point lead over Henry Lavallee. With the way the season has shaken out so far, Bowser and the crew above her seem comfortable heading for the final four weeks. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock battle is also tight at the cutline. Bobby Bettencourt III, 18 points behind fifth-place Greg Perry, holds the final spot right now. He leads over Danny Massa by 10 points, with Matt Talbot, who missed last week, just 16 points behind. Tim Ouellette in the ninth spot is only 30 points behind. The Pure Stock race is another one that will likely go right down to the final laps to decide it. Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars racing in 2024 has been as competitive as ever before. Right now, Richie Helger Jr., Jacob Burns and Josh Parsons hold the top-three spots in the points, separated by just 20 points. Brenden LaBelle in fourth, Chase Silvia in fifth and Mason Tessier currently hold the final three playoff spots. Tessier leads Rodney Dowless Jr. by 42 points for the final spot. Like the Sport 4 division, the Legends Cars race is likely to be decided as long as nothing major happens. Fast Friday returns with all five divisions on Friday, August 2. Racing begins at 7PM.
