SEEKONK, Mass. — It’s hard to believe the month of August is already here. Seekonk Speedway returns to racing on Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3, with Fast Friday and the annual Midsummer Thrill Show at the Action Track of the East. On Friday night, the Fast Friday divisions return with five classes on the track beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the thrills and spills of action returns to the third-mile, headlined by the Great American Trailer Race. Saturday’s Thrill Show goes green at 5 p.m. On top of the Great American Trailer Race, one of the most exciting events of the year, the East Coast Towing Spectator Drags, Crazy Figure 8 Races, Car & Truck Enduro Races, Car & Truck Enduro Drags and Powder Puff races will all hit the track. Race fans won’t want to miss the final Thrill Show before Labor Day, beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets are available in advance online at SeekonkSpeedway.com and will also be available at the gate on race day for this family-friendly event. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, showcasing the youth racing of the Action Track of the East. The Bandit field includes some of the top racing at the Speedway, with rising stars David Bernier, Mason Silva and Luka Dib all running for the podium weekly. Names like Ayla Martin, Carl Satterlund Jr. and Jase Chaber will all be looking to join those three as feature winners this Friday night. Those six drivers are comfortably in the playoff battle. In the Outlaws, Bryson Robidoux added his second win of the season last week. Although he is definitely hitting his summer stride, Brody Wakefield, Parker Davis, Nick Uhrig Jr. and others aren’t far behind. Drivers in both Bandolero divisions return to the track Friday night for 15 lap feature events. The Sport 4 division saw two-time and defending champion Crystal Murray add a second win to her season last week. With just four races to go before the field is set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup, the top-six drivers seem to be comfortable in their chase for the crown. Matt Pion enters the week ahead in the championship standings with Richie Johnson, Justin Leduc, Tyler Duhancik, Murray and Taylor Bowser following behind. Will this week see someone else jump into the bunch? The final laps were a family affair in the Helger’s Pure Stocks last week, with Greg Perry holding off Brent Robidoux for the feature win, getting back to Victory lane for the first time this season. The former champion pushed his way into fifth in the standings, comfortably in a playoff spot as of now. Up at the top, Mike Henriques leads Jared Robidoux, Cordeira, Souza, Perry and Bobby Bettencourt III in the title battle. Names like Danny Massa, Matt Talbot, Tim Ouellette and others will look for a strong run in Friday’s 25 lap feature, trying to push their way up the battle and carry the checkered flag. Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars racing has been exciting all year. The consistency of Richie Helger Jr., Jacob Burns and Josh Parsons sees those three drivers at the top. But young stars Chase Silvia and Brenden LaBelle aren’t far behind. Silvia added his first career win a few weeks ago, while LaBelle has been consistently near the front. Will one of these names win Friday’s 25-lap feature, or can someone like Mason Tessier, Kevin Davis, Rodney Dowless or others jump to the front? Tickets for Fast Friday are just $10 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets for the Midsummer Thrill Show are $25 for adults in advance of the event, $12 for youth 6-12 and kids 5 and under free. The ticket prices at the gate the day of the event are $28 for adults, $15 for youth 6-12 and kids five and under remain free. Parking is always free at Seekonk Speedway.
