SEEKONK, Mass. — Corey Fanning may not have run the whole season at Seekonk Speedway, but you know when he brings his Sportsman to the track, he’s going to be in contention. Fanning found himself back on top on Saturday night, taking down the victory in the Helger’s Sportsman 25-lap main event. The 25-car field had just one caution flag during the feature event. Fanning started third, fell back a bit early, but then charged through to take the lead, then hold off Tyler Almeida to take the feature win. Almeida’s strong run put him on the podium in second. Ed Perry followed in third, with Steve Axon and Adam Pettey finishing out the top-five. Doug Benoit, Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Jeremy Lambert, Scott Serydynski Jr and Nick Brightman rounded out the top-10. The Helger’s Sportsman will return to the track for the first race of the Sunoco Drive For The Cup on Saturday, September 8.
