BRIAN ROBIE CAPTURES $20,000 PRIZE IN MONACO MODIFIEDS OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED MADNESS AT SEEKONK6/28/2024 ![]() SEEKONK, Mass. — Brain Robie scored the biggest win of his Modified career on Thursday night at Seekonk Speedway. In the $20,000 to win Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series main event, Robie captured the lead late in the 100-lap event and drove away from challengers on multiple restarts to score the feature win. The annual Open Wheel Wednesday was delayed one day due to forecasted inclement weather, but the crowd was strong and 34 Modifieds were in the pit area to chase a purse that was over $80,000 throughout the field. A strong field of 27 took the green flag in the special event, now in its 19th year. Robie passed Matt Hirschman for the lead inside the final 20 laps to roll to the win. The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series results are unofficial pending a full inspection of the winner Brian Robie in tech. Teddy Hodgdon charged to the front in his first Seekonk Modified event, capturing a second-place finish. Kyle Bonsignore worked up through the pack late to finish in third, while Joey Cipriano also charged through, finishing fourth. Austin Beers completed the top-five after coming from the back at the quarter-way mark of the race. Les Hinckley finished in sixth, followed by Ronnie Williams, Matt Hirschman, Doug Coby and Matt Swanson. SEEKONK, Mass. — In the first of two visits to Seekonk Speedway for the NEMA Lites this season, Ben Mikitarian made sure it was clear he was going to be the one to beat on Thursday night at the Action Track of the East. Mikitarian dominated the 50-lap NEMA Lite feature as part of Open Wheel Wednesday, an event run one day late on Thursday, June 27 due to weather, scoring the feature win. Mikitarian jumped out front and drove away from all challengers in a race that started 17 NEMA Lites. He had to deal with some lapped traffic in the final laps, but it didn’t change the outcome. Former Seekonk NEMA winner Paul Scally finished in second spot, saying after the race that he was happy with a strong podium effort. Kyle Valeri had a third-place finish, while Dylan Coutu and Joey Bailey completed the top-five. The NEMA Lites will be back at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, July 13, as part of the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial for the NEMA Lites and NEMA Midgets, along with Seekonk’s NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Pro Stocks and Late Models. SEEKONK, Mass. — A few years ago, Dave Helliwell found himself in Victory Lane at the Action Track of the East. Fast-forward by a bit, and Helliwell was right back at the start/finish line celebrating at Seekonk Speedway again, this time in 2024. Helliwell used the outside lane to pass Matt Seavey and captured the victory in the 350 SMAC Supermodified 40-lap main event on Thursday evening. Helliwell said in his post-race interview that Seekonk is a tough track - one that requires a lot of mental toughness and focus over the course of the race. In the end, he had what he needed to get the job done. Seavey finished second in the 40-lap feature, while Matt Caprara finished in third. Brad Babb and George Helliwell finished the top-five. They were followed by Scott Watts, Mike Christopher Jr., Stephen Duphily, Jim Barker and Ben Tinker. AMERICAN-CANADIAN TOUR INVADES SEEKONK SATURDAY AS PART OF BUSY WEEKEND OF FRIDAY & SATURDAY ACTION6/6/2024 Seekonk Speedway will be back on the track on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8, with another doubleheader of New England short-track racing on tap. Friday includes the third round of the Fast Friday season for 2024, with the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, Sport 4’s and Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws all on track.
Saturday includes the return of the American-Canadian Tour for their first of two visits to Seekonk in 2024 - the Spring Green 124. A historic event on the schedule for ACT, this special event will pin Seekonk’s weekly Late Model stars up against touring series invaders. Also on the card for Saturday, the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series kicks-off for both the Helger’s Sportsman and Chaz’s Sport Trucks, and the Pro Stocks return to competition for just the second race of their season. The American-Canadian Tour field enters Seekonk with four championship points events in the books for their 2024 season. Former Seekonk frontrunner Derek Gluchacki leads the standings entering the race, with Gabe Brown, Alexander Tarfit, DJ Shaw and Kasey Beattie not far behind. Gluchacki and Tardif are two of four winners on the season - joined by Jesse Switser and Chris Pelkey. Seekonk drivers expected to compete include current NASCAR Division II points leader Richie Murray, Connor Souza, Vinnie Arrenegado Jr., Bobby Pelland III, Jacob “Rowdy” Burns and more. Can a Seekonk regular grab the checkered flag in the Spring Green 124 and defend the home turf? The Seekonk NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Division I Pro Stocks are back on track this week for round two of their season. Their first race on May 11 went to Colbey Fournier, but Vinnie Arrenegado, Mike Brightman, Pelland and Dick Benoit were all in the fight. It seems like forever since they have been on track - but they are back for 40 laps this week. Both the Sportsman and the Trucks are preparing for their first of three races each in the Everett’s Triple Crown Series. In two Sportsman events so far, Josh Hedges and Scott Serydynski Jr. have been to Victory Lane. It’s Colby Lambert, though, who leads the early point standings over former Fast Friday champion Doug Benoit. Hedges, Tyler Almeida and Jeremy Lambert aren’t far behind. Look out specifically for Adam Pettey to redeem himself after a wreck week one and near victory week two and come out strong this Saturday. In the Trucks, Jake Vanada, Mike Duarte and Amy Arsenault are the top three in their current points - but none of them have won yet. Tim Bolger (4th) and Rick Martin (5th) are the two winners so far in 2024. Both the Sport Trucks and Sportsman will go for 35 laps on Saturday night. Two weeks in, the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars division on Fast Friday has seen two different winners. Week one went to Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, while the second showdown went to Richie Helger Jr. Some names to watch heading into week three include Rodney Dowless Jr., Mason Tessier, Kevin Davis and more, as they get set for another 25 laps. The Helger’s Pure Stock division saw Brent Robidoux use the outside lane to rocket to Victory Lane last week, his first career in just his second start. Mike Henriques led most of the race, but Robidoux slid by late. Names like Ethan Souza, Matt Talbot, Greg Perry and more will be looking to grab their first win of the year this Friday night in their 25-lap race. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws have seen two weeks of hotly contested action on the track. David Bernier hasn’t won yet, but leads the point standings in a tie with Mason Silva in the Bandits. Luka Dib won the first race and Silva won round two. In the Outlaws, Mike Hanafin and Brody Wakefield are the two winners so far. Names like Bryson Robidoux, Nick Uhrig Jr, Zachary Keith and others will be looking to challenge this week in the Outlaw 15-lap feature. In the Sport 4 class, Matt Pion and Crystal Murray have both won, and both been on the podium in both events. Taylor Bowser, Richie Johnson, Mikey LeFort, Tyler Duhancik and others will look to add their name to the winners list for 2024. Tickets for both nights of racing are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Friday’s racing begins at 7 p.m. Grandstands open at 5:30 p.m. for fans to enter the track and catch the end of practice. On Saturday, racing begins at 6 p.m. Front gates on Saturday open for those with advance purchased tickets at 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. for all others. Spring Green Sets Up Battle for ACT Stars Against Seekonk’s Weekly Heroes at the Cement Palace6/5/2024 The American-Canadian Tour returns to Seekonk Speedway to battle for the 49th Spring Green this Saturday, June 8 with a host of Seekonk's finest looking to take the win away from the ACT Touring stars! Barre, VT — Following their most recent trip across the international border between Canada and the United States, the American-Canadian Tour is set to enter the gates of Seekonk Speedway for a doubly exciting event on Saturday, June 8. Not only will June 8 serve as the start of the popular Brookside Equipment Southern New England Triple Crown for 2024, it’s also the 49th running of the famed Spring Green that was first conceived by famed announcer Ken Squier back in 1974 Created as the early-season opener for the old Northern NASCAR, five-nights-a-week Late Model Sportsman circuit in 1974, and tormented by late winter snowstorms more than a few times in the last several decades, the Spring Green holds a special place as a cornerstone event for the ACT-sanctioning body. Since then, such acclaimed Northeast legends as the Dragon Brothers, Dave Dion, Robbie Crouch, Canadians Junior Hanley and Jean-Paul Cabana, sitting Vermont Governor Phil Scott, ‘The Outlaw’ Eddie MacDonald and, most recently, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. have taken the Spring Green victory. Four races in and Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP) finalist Derek Gluchacki is in charge of the ACT point standings. Gluchacki is 29 points ahead of closest rival Gabe Brown and certainly has a leg up on the competition. While still looking for his first American-Canadian Tour win at Seekonk, Gluchacki cut his teeth at the Cement Palace piloting Legend cars, a popular Friday Night division at the Massachusetts speedplant, and looks to overcome his second-place finish in last year’s edition of the Spring Green. It's going to be hard to count out first-time ACT winner Alexendre ‘Fireball’ Tardif, coming off a dominant victory at his Autodrome Chaudiere hometrack on May 18. Recent campaigner Cam Huntress has had some great runs at Seekonk in the past and would love to capitalize, as would rookie title chasers Kasey Beattie, Jeremy Sorel, Kaiden Fisher and Cole Littlewood. Along with Tardif, fellow Canadians Jonathan Bouvrette, Remi Perreault and Claude Leclerc are set to make the trip, Leclerc looking for his second Spring Green victory to complement his first career American-Canadian Tour win in this very event all the way back in 1983! Seekonk Speedway is prepared to send some of their best to defend the home turf, led by defending track champion Vinnie Arrenegado. Joining the champion in an attempt to become the first Seekonk hometrack star to best the ACT Touring drivers at their own game is current point leader Richie Murray along with Jacob ‘Rowdy’ Burns, multi-time Pro Stock champion David Darling, Chase Belcher and Bobby Pelland III among the top candidates! The American-Canadian Tour is back in action on Saturday, June 8 at The Action Track of the East, Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts. The American-Canadian Tour takes over the Concrete Palace for the first of two visits in 2024 with the 49th Spring Green 124, one of the sanctioning body’s marquee cornerstone events first taking place back in 1974. Post Time is set for 6:00pm, ticketing information is available online at www.seekonkspeedway.com. Silk has three victories in the first five Whelen Modified Tour events of the season at New Smyrna, Thompson and Riverhead. Other winners this season include three-time series champion Justin Bonsignore (Richmond) and Jake Johnson (Monadnock). Jake is familiar with Seekonk Speedway fans as a multiple-time champion in the Fast Friday Legends Cars division and feature winner in the Pro Stocks and Late Models, who has now gone Modified racing. There will also be many other contenders in the field like Matt Hirschman, Doug Coby and more. Saturday’s racing also includes the first round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for the Late Models, set for 50 laps. Richie Murray dominated the second half of the season-opener on May 11 and will return looking to charge through the field and make it back-to-back. He will be closely challenged by names like Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, defending champion Vinnie Arrenegado, Luke Lebrun, Connor Souza and more. The extra-distance event will be the highlight of a full night of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts weekly racing. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will also be on track for their second race of the year. Part-time campaigner Josh Hedges won the first one over Tyler Almeida. But, defending division champion Steve Axon and front-runner Adam Pettey will be looking to get back to the front this week. They will be joined by the Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Trucks, who have their own 25-lap event planned. Defending and seven-time Seekonk champion Rick Martin won the first race, but will have names like Mike Duarte, Darryl Church, Jake Vanada and others looking to take him down. Saturday night racing begins with a special ceremony for Carl “Bugsy” Stevens, a four-time Seekonk Speedway champion and also a historic NASCAR Modified champion, who passed away last week. Fans are encouraged to get to the track by 5 p.m. to make sure they do not miss the special ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by qualifying for the Whelen Modified Tour, then heat races. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will headline the Fast Friday campaign, as a five-division card roars the Action Track of the East to life to end the work-week. The Legends are coming off a strong first race that saw defending champion Jacob “Rowdy” Burns capture the feature win over Richie Helger Jr and Mason Tessier. Not only will the Legends run 25 laps, but the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks and Sport 4’s will do the same. In the Pure Stocks, the first event of the year went to defending champion Jared Cordeira, who jumped out early and dominated the show. He was joined on the podium at the end by Mike Henriques, who started last and charged through the field to finish second, and Brent Robidoux, a Rookie of the Year contender in the division. In the Sport 4 class, Matt Pion started off 2024 strong with his first career win. He’s heading back for week two looking for more, but names like Taylor Bowser, Crystal Murray and others will look to challenge. Both Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions had a strong start to the year, with Luka Dib (Bandits) and Mike Hanafin (Outlaws) winning their first events. Naming just a few drivers to watch in these classes would be tough, as they both showcase Seekonk’s youth, rising talent. Both divisions will be on track on Friday for 15 lap races. Tickets for both nights are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Friday racing begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday action goes green at 5:30 p.m. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news and updates. Meeting Goals: American-Canadian Tour Increases to $5,000-to-Win Base Purse for All Events1/31/2024 The American-Canadian Tour has increased the base purse for the iconic tour, meaning every ACT event will be at least $5,000 to win and $500 to start. This is the latest step in a 156% increase in rewards ACT owners Cris Michaud and Pat Malone have made since 2017. (Erik Tavares photo)>> Barre, VT — A goal seven years in the making has come to fruition. Since purchasing the American-Canadian Tour at the end of the 2017 season, Cris Michaud and Pat Malone have worked diligently over the past six seasons to finalize one goal above all others: building up event purses and rewarding the racers. Now, that time has come. ACT Officials announced today that starting in 2024 all American-Canadian Tour purses will be at least $5,000 to win and $500 to start. The American-Canadian Tour, since adapting to the current Late Model program, saw regular purses of $2,000 to win and $400 to start over the past decades leading to Michaud and Malone’s purchase of the Tour from iconic founder Tom Curley. The duo immediately increased the ACT championship point fund by $10,000 for full-time competitors and Rookie of the Year chasers, setting a path for increasing monetary rewards for the traveling international stars. In the past several years the two have steadily increased ACT base purses, most recently moving to a $3,000 to win and $450 to start base that has been increased to the new $5,000 to win and $500 to start initiative. On the touring side, racers also have the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown with a separate point fund, the $100,000 Vermont Milk Bowl purse and $10,000 to win events on both sides of the US/Canadian border. ACT-sanctioned tracks have also seen increased options in the last several seasons. Michaud and Malone created the Flying Tiger Triple Crown at Thunder Road in 2017, bringing the same program to White Mountain in 2019. The successful Wall’s Ford Platinum Late Model Series at White Mountain in turn has led to a similar separate-point-fund Late Model Triple Crown at Thunder Road this upcoming season. Thunder Road Street Stocks got a first taste of Triple Crown action last season while the White Mountain Strictly Minis annually compete a $500 to win, 50-lap spectacular; this season a Father’s Day special! Since 2017, the increases in the base American-Canadian Tour event purses, ACT point fund, the Vermont Milk Bowl guaranteed purse and both Thunder Road and White Mountain track championship point funds have increased by a combined 156%. “It was one of my biggest goals to build up these purses for the racer,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “I can remember those long hauls, two or three nights of racing a week. It’s a blast, but it’s also an economic commitment. I’m very proud that we’ve built back up to this point and I hope our racers feel just as proud because they’re worth it, they’ve earned it.” For more information about the American-Canadian Tour, contact the ACT offices at (802) 244-6963, [email protected], or visit www.acttour.com.
