SEEKONK, Mass. — Jacob “Rowdy” Burns was at the right place at the right time on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway, and took full advantage of the opportunity. Burns rocketed to the lead when Charlie Rose and Connor Souza got together going for the top spot, then held off Rose and others to win the 30-lap Late Model feature event. The victory was the second consecutive for Burns to open the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. Based on playoff points, the victory also locked him into the Final Four for the Late Model crown. With a second-place finish, Rose is also locked into the Final Four in the Late Models based on playoff points. They were followed by Chase Belcher, Luke Lebrun and Andrew Gomes to complete the top-five. Connor Souza, Richie Murray, Mark Jenison, Brittany Campbell and John Silva finished the top-10. Unofficially, the current Final Four drivers would be: Rose (locked in), Burns (locked in), Belcher and Lebrun. Murray and Lebrun are tied for the final spot, but Lebrun would earn the tiebreaker. The Sunoco Drive For The Cup continues for the Late Models with the third of four events on Saturday, September 21, at 6 p.m. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news and updates.
