SEEKONK, Mass. — Luka Dib held off some fast challengers to return to Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit Victory Lane on Friday night at Seekonk Speedway. Dib, a previous winner in 2024, found his way to the front quickly in the 15-lap feature. The race continued a common trend of three drivers at the front: Dib, Mason Silva and David Bernier. All three have been racing competitively for feature wins each week and this time around, Dib was the one who came out on top. Silva followed him to the finish line, coming home with yet another strong run in second. Bernier was right behind them in third, after contending for the lead for much of the race. Carl Satterlund Jr finished in fourth and Jase Chaber rounded out the top-five. Ayla Martin and Aiden Anger rounded out the field. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits will return to the track on Friday, August 2, for another 15-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — Bryson Robidoux found himself back on top on Friday night at Seekonk Speedway. For the second time, Robidoux celebrated in Victory Lane in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws. He chased his way to the front quickly in the main event, then held on during some late restarts to score the feature win. Robidoux bested Allyha Desomma, who came home with a strong second-place finish, her best career. Brody Wakefield worked through the field to finish in third, with Parker Davis and Mike Hanafin rounding out the top-five. Ryder Aguiar, Nick Uhrig Jr., Zachary Keith, Abbie Badejo and Zacarias Kelley rounded out the top-10. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, August 2, for another 15-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — As the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions hit the end of July this weekend at Seekonk Speedway, only four races remain before the field is set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup. In fact, for the Pro Stocks, who are off this weekend, only three races remain before deciding the field. New for 2024, the Sunoco Drive For The Cup Playoffs only include the top-six drivers in each division in the championship standings at the end of August. The Chaz’s Sport Trucks, Helger’s Sportsman and Late Models have four scheduled events before the field is set. One of them will be knocked off for them this Saturday night. The Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Truck battle has Mike Cavallaro ahead of Darryl Church by just six points at the cutline. Only nine points back in eighth is DJ Thibeault, while Marissa Morgan is just 16 points back in ninth. Rounding out the top-10, Tom Scully III is only 26 points behind. Drivers earn two points per position in feature racing and 5-4-3-2-1 from first to fifth in qualifying heats. With still a chunk of races to go, deciding the final spot appears it will go right down to the wire.
In the Late Models, Richie Murray’s win last week jumped him back into safe ground in fourth, but not by much. Murray has 255 points, while Chase Belcher has 253 and Mark Jenison, holding the final spot, has 249. Just outside, Connor Souza is 21 points back. Bobby Pelland III is 24 points back himself in eighth. It looks like between these drivers, the final spots will be filled. Who makes up ground this week?
The Helger’s Sportsman race is also rather tight between positions five through nine. Tyler Almeida had a rough week last week, but with 225 points, is still in fifth. Doug Benoit currently holds the final spot with 219. Behind him, it’s super tight. Randy Moretti is just 14 points out, while Jeremy Lambert is just 15 back. Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia in ninth is only 18 points out. As the Sportsman continue to showcase some of the best racing in New England, three and even four-wide, this one is definitely going to the wire.
Off this week, the Pro Stock battle looks a little bit more clear. Colbey Fournier currently sits in the final spot, 26 points ahead of the cutline. Behind him, Jeramee Lillie will have some work to do if he wants to charge in. Dick Benoit, a one-time feature winner this season, is also 33 points out. Is the Pro Stock field already set or will someone surprise us?
The Sportsman, Trucks and Late Models will join the Pro All Star Series Bay State Summer Classic 150 for another night at the Action Track of the East on Saturday, July 27. SEEKONK, Mass. — It’s hard to believe the Fast Friday season is down to the final five events before the field is set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup playoffs. New for 2024, the Sunoco Drive For The Cup playoffs only includes the top-six drivers in each division in the championship standings at the end of August. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Helger’s Pure Stocks, Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws and Sport 4s will all be back on the track on the following dates to set the field: July 26, August 2, August 9, August 16 and August 23. The Bandolero Bandit field is just about set. David Bernier currently leads over Mason Silva, Luka Dib, Ayla Martin, Jase Chaber and Carl Satterlund Jr. These drivers will contend for the championship this season as long as nothing drastic changes in the next four weeks. The Bandolero Outlaw field is a different story. Bryson Robidoux, Brody Wakefield, Nick Uhrig Jr., Parker Davis, Ryder Aguiar and Zacarias Kelley are currently in the six spots. Kelley leads over Mike Hanafin by just 12 points for the final spot with Zachary Keith just 14 points back. It’s Allya DeSomma next in line, just 20 points out of the final spot. Will one of the drivers outside charge in the positions they need over the final few weeks? In the Sport 4 division, Taylor Bowser holds the final position, up by 34 points on Henry Lavallee. Above her, Matt Pion leads the standings over Richie Johnson, Justin Leduc, Tyler Duhancik and Crystal Murray. Unless Lavallee can mount an impressive charge, the Sport 4 battle may be set to go. The Helger’s Pure Stock battle is the tightest of all Seekonk divisions. Mike Henriques, Jared Cordeira, Brent Robidoux, Ethan Souza and Matt Talbot currently round out the top-five. Although it’s only 24 points, Talbot is in a decent spot with five weeks to go. The final car currently in is former champion Greg Perry. He leads by just eight points over Bobby Bettencourt III, while Danny Massa is only 10 points back. It’s Josh O’Hara in ninth, 30 points behind. It appears that the top-eight drivers, ending with Massa, will battle for the six spots. When it comes to the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Richie Helger Jr. leads over Jacob Burns, Brenden LaBelle, Josh Parsons, Mason Tessier and Chase Silvia. Right now, Silvia looks comfortable, leading Kevin Davis Jr. by 30 points and Rodney Dowless by 34 points. Is the Legends Cars field also rather set with five weeks to go? The Fast Friday Series returns to the track on Friday, July 27, with all five divisions on the track beginning at 7 p.m. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest updates. PASS INVADES SEEKONK FOR $5,000 BATTLE SATURDAY; NASCAR, FAST FRIDAY DIVISIONS BACK ON TRACK7/23/2024 SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway will end the month of July with two nights of short-track racing action this weekend. On Friday, July 27, the Fast Friday Series returns with five divisions of excitement under the lights, beginning at 7 p.m. On Saturday, July 28, the Pro All Star Series makes their one and only appearance of the season for the Bay State Summer Classic - a $5,000 to win, 150-lap special that will pin some of Seekonk’s weekly Pro Stock competitors against PASS invaders. Saturday racing goes green at 6 p.m. While the weekly Pro Stock division has the night off, multiple Seekonk competitors will challenge the best from PASS in the 150-lap event Saturday. Eight-time Pro Stock champion Dave Darling, who is the most recent weekly division winner, will be in the field. He will be joined by current points leader Bobby Pelland III, who holds a 19-point lead in the standings, with one feature win this season. Dylan Estrella, currently fourth in the championship battle and a feature winner in 2024, is also planning to compete. They will be joined by Late Model and Legend Cars (defending champion) standout Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, who will wheel the No. 30. Fans will also recognize former Seekonk Speedway champions - Angelo Belsito and defending event winner Ryan Kuhn. Two years ago, Kuhn rocketed to victory in the special event. Last year, the event was cancelled due to weather. Some of the top contenders from PASS fans can expect include Johnny Clark, DJ Shaw, Gabe Brown, Austin Teras, Dennis Spencer, Rusty Poland and more. In the history of PASS events at Seekonk, the track regulars have stolen the checkered flag a few times. Will someone defend the home turf this Saturday or will a PASS driver grab the trophy? The Seekonk Late Models will be on the card for 30 laps of their own. Entering the weekend, the race for the final playoff spot with four races to go sees Mark Jenison ahead of Connor Souza by 21 points. Last week, Richie Murray made a few three-wide moves to get to the front to score his second win of the season, holding off Charlie Rose and Jacob Burns to win. They will be contending with Luke Lebrun, Brittany Campbell, Andrew Gomes and others in the feature this week. The Helger’s Sportsman had yet another wild one last week, with Gerry DeGasparre Jr. rocketing back to Seekonk Victory Lane for the first time in over 20 years in a Sportsman. Although he’s not competing in the championship battle, Colby Lambert used another strong run to open his points lead to 30 markers with four events remaining until the playoffs. Names like Adam Pettey, Josh Hedges, Scott Serydynski Jr., Tyler Almeida, Doug Benoit, Randy Moretti and others will be in contention in the 25-lap feature. In the Chaz’s Auto Body Sport Trucks, Mike Duarte has yet to win this season, but has been consistent in the top-five. He leads the standings heading into this week over Radical Rick Martin, Jake Vanada, last week’s winner Tim Bolger Jr. and Amy Arsenault, who is coming off a second-place finish last week. All of those names and more will be on track for 25 laps on Saturday. NASCAR Saturday racing also includes the N.E.A.R. division. The New England Auto Racers Antique Racers will showcase some of the old cars in the history of the sport. NEAR will also have a booth on the midway for fans to learn more about their organization. They will be inducting seven-time track champion Rick Martin into their 2024 class this November. Fast Friday action includes both of the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions - the Bandits and the Outlaws. Last week, David Bernier added another win to his Bandit season, holding off a late charge from Mason Silva. In the Outlaws, it was the first win of the season for Nick Uhrig Jr. This week, look out for some names who could grab their first checkered. In the Bandits, Ayla Martin and Jase Chaber are top-five in points, but have yet to win. In the Outlaws, Parker Davis and Ryder Aguiar are in the same boat. The Sport 4 division had another repeat winner last week, with Justin Leduc storming to the front. He’s joined near the top of the standings by leader Matt Pion, Richie Johnson, Tyler Duhancik, Crystal Murray and Taylor Bowser. Out of those six contenders, only Bowser and Johnson haven’t won this year. Will they grab a trophy this week? As the Helger’s Pure Stocks get ready to storm to the track for 25 laps, Danny Massa is coming off his first win of the year. He’s currently eighth, two spots outside of the playoffs, but only 10 points back of the cutline. Mike Henriques and Jared Cordeira sit at the top of the standings, with Brent Robidoux, Ethan Souza and Matt Talbot rounding out the top-five. Similar to the other divisions, everyone in the top-five except Talbot has won this season. Can he sneak his way into Victory Lane on Friday night? The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will also be on track Friday for 25 laps. Last week, Chase Silvia earned his first career win. Of the six drivers currently locked in the playoffs, only fifth-place Mason Tessier has yet to visit Victory Lane. Those who have include Richie Helger Jr., Jacob Burns, Brendan LaBelle, Josh Parsons and Silvia. Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m. and NASCAR Saturday begins at 6 p.m. In total, 10 different divisions will hit the track this weekend at the Action Track of the East. Tickets for both nights of racing are available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Fans who purchase tickets online will be able to skip the line on race day and will save money on costs. SEEKONK, Mass. — After a long 75 laps in the American Racer Pro Stock special, Dave Darling was back on top in the Pro Stocks on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. The driver of the No. 52, seemingly a master of extra-distance events, methodically worked his way to the front, held on during a mid-race jingle, then drove away for victory in the special event. The eight-time Pro Stock champion may only be running part-time, but he’s found his way back to the front often again in 2024. Bobby Pelland III continued his success on the season, posting a strong second-place finish. They say consistency is king and Pelland has been a prime example of that this season. They were joined by Mark Jenison on the podium, as the two-time Pro Stock champion grabbed a third-place finish in the marathon event. Behind them, Kevin Casper worked his way up through the field from outside the top-10 and grabbed a fourth-place finish, while Chris Gomes earned a top-five finish in the division for the first time in his career, finishing fifth. Rick Martin, Theodore Urquart, Jeramee Lillie, Billy Joerres and Ken Lavallee finished the top-10. The Pro Stocks will be off next Saturday, July 27, as the Pro All Star Series comes to town. A new combination this season, DeGasparre has found success with a rising team in Seekonk’s Division III class and was ecstatic to be back on top. He drove away in the final laps to score his second Late Model win of the season at the Action Track of the East. Rose finished in second, another strong run for the veteran in the No. 91. He held off a hard charge from Jacob “Rowdy” Burns in the final laps. Burns was right behind him at the finish in third. Chase Belcher and Brittany Campbell finished fourth and fifth.
